I am just wondering and hoping that the 2011 campout is still being held at Hartman Creek???? There was a post about it awhile ago on the site, but no longer there and I don’t see it posted in the events. Just curious.

Hi Becky! I’m a geocaching mom of two boys and we live in Elkhorn…not far from your neck of the woods. If you would like to go out with us sometime, we’d love to have ya. I need someone to boost me back up anyway. We haven’t been out in awhile! Welcome aboard! -Betty

I am a momma cacher with two sons. We have a whistle attached to our GPS unit so its right there for instant access, and I always have my cell phone within reach also.

I do definately recommend ORANGE for this time of year. Our scariest venture geocaching so far was last year in December when we literally ran into a hunter with his gun in arm…stopped us dead in our tracks! It was then that we realized you need to dress like a hunter this time of year or you might be mistaken as a animal!!

Some destinations have given me the willies but if that’s the case, I just walk much faster to the point that the kids are telling me to slow down. I don’t want them to know I’m spooked so I tell them I just have to go to the bathroom so hurry up! he, he

Well, our Water’s Edge virtual will give you a 2-mile hike around the beautiful Lake Geneva shoreline. I know Cathunter has already done our geocache recently, maybe that’s what prompts his intuition to go further! [ ]

You can add us to the bottom of the list with 5 states…but we are happy with this accomplishment. WI,IL,MO,ARK,and NEVADA.

Thumbs up, Cheesehead Dave. I have asked, and you have answered! I am loving your new site. I hope others will keep checking it out and placing their stats. It’s just another neat way of watching what people are up too!

I just noticed that you are from Elkhorn. Well…so are we. We haven’t been out much lately because we camp a lot in the summer, but since you are so close, we can maybe arrange for an after-work hunt. I also have two boys ages 12 and 5. They would be happy to show you the ropes of geocaching. Happy caching, Betty

Boy, Geoskis, I just wonder who is the first Elkhorn team to reach 100??? He, he, he. [ ] Now’s your time to catch up since we haven’t been out lately! Good job guys!

Well, one may say that I do like to be social, but that wasn’t what prompted the geoname. After receiving my GPS for Christmas and not really knowing the sport very well at all and finding our first geocache the very next day, we hadn’t even thought of a name until I was logging the find. Well, being that I wanted us to be recognized as a family team geocaching together, we wanted to put our last name in the geoname. I guess I didn’t realize the problem when I married Mr. Barr. So there you have it.

First, I thought of BarrCache, but didn’t want people to think I was out stealing money or geocache stuffings for some bar cash. So I figured well, I’ll see if I can get enough dollars out of geocaches for the cash bar! [ ]

See…I just knew I wasn’t the only one!

in reply to: Illinois event #1735254

Yes, we too, had a great time! Very nice planned event. Tons a caches to hunt for and not enough time to get them all in!

We picked up a travelling geocache named 50 STATES that wants to get to one geocache from every state. We also picked up a birdie travel bug to bring back with us only to find out when we got home to log it that Sbukosky took it there from Wisconsin. That goes to show that Birdies do travel fast!

Yeap! We’ve already logged that we will be there!
