  • I hope you made the final a long hike. After all that driving, cachers are going to need to stretch their legs.

Most of the series that I’ve done are a series in name only. Though they may be along the same trail, they are still individual caches.

The two series mentioned by Uncle Fun are true series where it is necessary to find all the component caches in order to find a final cache. These are quite different from the Yellowstone Trail/Geocaching 101 type series where the series is a loosely connected series of independent caches. That said, I am sure that placers could contact the approvers in advance for this special sort of series so that the approvals could be released “all at once”, if that is desired.

Heading out in a few minutes to get some rubber boots. Order of the day will be water proof hiking boots inside rubber boots. OR… You could take the cache owners suggestion and tie garbage bags over your feet. (We will be taking up a collection to bribe MB into doing the entire series in garbage bags…. or maybe not (ducking!).

Also, between 601 and 1001 is another cache called The Peaks of Portland. Probably makes sense to grab this one on the way.

In the 101 description, he refers to this cache as a “stop bath” cache. My only knowledge of this term is in photographic development, and I doubt that he hid the cache in an acetic acid bottle. Anyone know what he is talking about?

Really two things. 1. Compass, 2. Spare batteries. #2 is sometimes left behind if we are on one of our GPS-less quests. #1 is always there.

Great job! We’ll see you soon on the trail.

You can see my cache from here!

(and you walked right by it!)

This confused me for a second. I thought you were talking about this cache at first.

I am going to try to get to this, but Julie will be sleeping (unless we are doing night caching, in which case she will be working). Looks like I should buy some rubber boots.

Since we went to the event in Fort Atkinson, we now have SIX Wisconsin Counties under our belt. The new figure is 06-04-00

Thanks for all the kind remarks, guys. So far, no major issues so I am going to go ahead and make them public. Again, if anyone wants to improve on a description or add a cache that I somehow missed, send me an email.

    Team B Squared,
I was actually planning on doing US 2 eventually (it isn’t exactly the busiest route…), so good work. To increase the utility, you might want to preface each title with a number so that you can put the list in order.

    Zuma,
I looked at including those 4 caches on the east side of Lake Menomin, but the closest is about 2.5 miles from the exit. The two in Wakanda Park are a little closer, but still too far. These all got filtered in because of that rest area which has the Red Arrow Division cache. I am assuming you can’t access either of these areas from the eastbound rest area, right?

Not to change the subject, but to bend it a bit, the Lock-N-Lock plastic containers seem real tough, with 4 latches, one on each side, and a gasket seal all around.

I was in the neighborhood of Sherpers tonight so I stopped in to check on it. They have lots of the second smallest size (about 5″ thick, 50 cal) and many larger sizes, but none of the smallest size. All were in ok shape.

I’ve been to Sherpers, and the last time I was there, the boxes we either BIG or really rotten. There is a Sherpers N and W(near Waukesha?) but they were kind funky and rusty.

The last box I bought at Sherper’s-Hales Corners (in December) was 3″ x 12″ x 10″ or so. It was in good shape (at least until Johnny Cache beat on it with a hammer). It cost all of $4. It is still in place, has been frozen solid in ice at least twice, taken to a muggle’s house and brought back, tossed about on rocks by Lake Michigan waves, and everything inside it is still bone dry. I did repaint it with sand colored camo paint, which apparently provides a good surface for moss growth (much better camo!).

Guys, we would be glad to cache with you, but your profile does not come up on GC.com. Is it possible that your GC user name is something different than True Blues?
