Your member name is zuma, not zuma4now like on the message boards.

    Brian (Tapps),
Almost all the candidates have posted their views/ideas/plans/personal info in the Candidate Corner 2006 forum. Take a look. I am sure you will find some people whose ideas are in line with yours.

    Happy voting,

    Team Deejay

LOL The friction/slide on ones, not knowing if they are on tight, a screw type or I’m too stupid to realize they slide on, is that I almost killed a couple cache containers by whacking it on a tree to get it loose.

A cacher’s gotta do what she’s gotta do!!

Did you ever consider carrying a chainsaw with you on the hunt?

We finally got through this one, and as was indicated in the logs, WP2 is getting pretty difficult to read. To read it, I actually hauled it up to the bridge (better light) and then we tried to guess what the blur was supposed to say. Since it is not my cache, I am not going to repaint it, but I will do a “temporary” fix (involving a label and a little packing tape) to make the WP legible for future finders. Thanks to Senior Searchers and Ecorangers for their help on this one. You guys are great!

Can I watch when you try get a replacement, due to the fact that it cracked because someone dropped a boulder on it, trying to “rehide” it? Or how about claiming a bear chewed on it to break it?

How do you tell a Legend C from a Legen Cx? Mine just says Legend C, so I am assuming it is not a Cx. Plus it is about a year old, so I think it must be a C.

If its a year old, its not a Cx, which was just released. I am assuming it would say Cx on it, but who knows?

I forgot to tell you one more thing. First, install the drivers. Next, reboot. Next, plug in your cable into the GPS. Next, plug in your cable into the computer. This should maximize the chance that your computer recognizes everything correctly.

Did some quick research for you on the GSAK support forum http://www.gsak.net/board/index.php?

First, make sure you have installed the USB drivers from your Mapsource/WP Manager CD. The Legend C is only USB, and the drivers you need are on the CD, but not part of any version of Windows that I know of. (Tough luck if you are a linux user.) Here’s a thread.

Second, in GSAK, make sure you have selected Garmin as the GPS type and have USB checked on the GPS setup page.

Finally, make sure you don’t have a Legend Cx. Apparently our friends at Garmin, in their infinite wisdom, have decided that they needed to change the protocol for the x series, so that it no longer works with GPS Babel, and by extension GSAK, Google Earth, and a wide variety of other applications which rely on GPS Babel. The poor guys at GPS Babel are trying to work it out, but apparently they changed about everything, making the protocol more like their StreetPilot protocol. If you have a Cx, you are going to have to do the Waypoint Manager thing until GPS Babel gets it figured. http://www.gpsbabel.org/garminx.html

    Good luck!

This looks like a fun one. Thanks for the recommendation!

Assuming the date is 1/29, has anyone specified the time and meeting place?

Save yourself the grief, Cathunter. The regulation they showed you also specifies that the sticker must be attached to the windshield “by its own adhesive”. Using the duct tape would just be a quick route to ticket #2. The reason those “windshield savers” work is that they are undetectable from the outside. Obviously they still violate the regulation, but the rangers can’t tell when checking for stickers.

Thanks to the Tapps and AuntieNae for all their work on this event. We had a great time (Julie said it was her best caching day ever) and ran into a few fellow cachers. Due my use of my $79 Yellow Garmin, I had 4 different people stop me on the street to ask about Geocaching. Maybe a few new recruits? TFTC!!!!!

Thanks for the feedback. By washed away, I meant washed off, as in no longer visible/legible. I will try again on Sunday.

We’d be game for this, depending on the day. One point of concern: looking at the logs for the “One fish, two fish…” cache series look like they are badly in need of maintenance, and the second one is currently inactive. Anyone know if the cache owner is planning on maintaining the caches any time soon?
