Nice Dave, but we prefer it when you cache wearing more than just your boots.
Maybe so, but I sweat less that way.

Welcome to the fun!
Perhaps a bit of confusion here. Evince (the other geochecker) is owned by a volunteer reviewer in Texas. I don’t believe geochecker is associated with Groundspeak in any way. Maybe time to switch checkers?

FYI, This has happened in the past…
I believe Groundspeak “owns” the domain name if I am not mistaken and/or took over some portion of ownership on geochecker.
It came back after a similar error within a day or 2. I wouldn’t jump to changing everything just yet.
I believe 527 feet is the limit, unless you are talking caches which were published before the 528 foot guidelines. Those are unlimited moves. (No, I don’t really agree with this.) I believe that guideline was instituted in some time in 2002.
What everybody says is correct. The reason for the rule change had to do with someone who decided to visit the same cache every day to do a revisit and log points. This was an example of the “There is one in every crowd.” adage. In any case, I always give people the benefit of the doubt if there are revisit/owner maintenance logs close together.
Here is an easier method.

I understand that this practice is ok for any team whose handle does not start with an “E”.
Actually, while contacting the legislature is a good idea, I’d suggest we aim higher. I’m sure that among this group, we have several card carrying Democrats who contributed to and campaigned for the current governor. We all know that money talks in politics, so I would suggest that anyone in this category step up and lead the effort to open communications with Mr. Doyle. Something tells me that a phone call from the boss will loosen up the guys in the DOT. Anyone willing to lead?
I guess I’m not for this change. As someone who found exactly 25 caches, I suppose we were at “average” odds, but what makes this event special is the contest combined with new caches being published. The prizes are not the issue, but the contest itself. I really see no reason to tinker with success here. I didn’t hear of anyone cheating, but I suppose that happens. I’m pretty sure none of the winners were among the cheaters, so who cares? No harm, no foul.
I would say that there is too much time between the turn-in deadline and the drawing. If the deadline is at 4:30, have the drawing at 5.
The other day, my cache sheet told me somebody’s van was in a small cache container. Needless to say, the bug was “missing”.
I thought the event was very well run, and the caches were generally fun. I still think you could spread out even more with the caches, as most of the ones in the city of West Bend ended up being simply a line of people waiting to stamp and sign the logs. I understand that the point was to promote some of the West Bend businesses, but a few of those is more than enough. The IAT caches were great, as were the Kettle Moraine caches. For both of those, more, more, more! For me, the Black Kettle night cache was the highlight of the weekend. Just a great cache made better by great company.
As far as criticisms, Julie suggested that you would sell more t-shirts if you picked a color more suitable to our group. Her idea was a camouflage material with white logo/lettering.
Finally, I would suggest that any Karaoke event be held some significant distance away from any of the actual event venues. I’m thinking Superior would be a nice choice.

Also, not really a “useless” hint but more frustrating–not putting enough information on the cache page to solve a puzzle in the first place and then adding/changing hints over time to add necessary info. 🙄
This is theoretically not within the guidelines, although sometimes the reviewers miss things like this. Sometimes a puzzle will look straightforward, only to be proven unsolvable (or with multiple correct solutions). Generally we just glance at sudokus, math problems, trivia quizzes, etc. The ones that get our attention are encryptions, logic puzzles, and those caches where the puzzle doesn’t seem to exist at all.
Returning the thread back to its originally scheduled topic…

Barry,
I have tried that one but it only gives me one per page, for any page in the selection I have.
By the way nice coinDeeJay,
For us semi non techies, sorry your over our heads. Just wondering if that could be used for another state, say Illinois. We have done the Wisconsin Delorme and are starting on a new state.Regardless-Thanks for the help and suggestions
Yes, just change the WI to IL.
Umm, you guys know there is an email address where you can direct your complaints? [email protected]? I can pretty much guarantee that no one in Seattle is reading these forums.
