Having spent a little time in Sheboygan, I’m sure he is referring to the lake in the northern KM. And they certainly do have a campground there. I parked in it when finding the caches on Dundee Mountain. Here is a map:

Thanks much to the responses.
According to Garmin Tech Support the iQue 3600 is not compliant with the NT version CN 2009.
May have to investigate a replacement for the iQue 3600 at some point in time that has all the same features and benefits like Palm Desk Top. GPS, auto-routing, etc.
Any suggestions?
You could just buy the non-NT version of CN. You will still be able to get almost everything loaded on a 2GB card. I doubt that you will need northern Canada, Alaska or Hawaii any time soon, and you can always select a new set of maps for any trip you want to take.
Incidentally, if you are really serious about replacing the IQue, you probably should consider a PocketPC version if you want it for geocaching. Given that the new Wherigo technology is not planned to be ported to Palms, it might be getting close to the time to let go of the Palm technology. (Not that I’m doing it. My Palm still does what I want!)

Ummm…do you find this checker-thing-ma-jig? Not that I’m even close to finishing the challenge.
This may come as a shock to you, but some of the Delorme pages are south of Highway 8….
I believe it would be the entire upper midwest. This seems to be about the same saturation as last year for ticks. As Bong is a grassland/prairie, this is where they thrive. Additionally, most of the caches in Bong require at least some bushwacking, so the ticks just hang in the weeds and wait for someone to hitchhike on.
The strangest thing is that I have picked off at least 1000 ticks off myself, but I have never had to extract one. Usually they don’t bite me, but even when they do, they seem to release immediately. Maybe they are allergic to me or something? I did find one trying to suck blood out of my boot once. I believe that one might have been deranged.
These containers are all over Racine and Kenosha. And yes, they suffer from all the issues described above.
Yes, I will explain. I would have approved the meet and greet event immediately when I saw it, but the listing didn’t have a start time. I told the owner that I would approve it as soon as the start and end times wer added. You might actually check with the “cache owner” before making incorrect claims in the forums. (Incidentally, the date is incorrect on this event as well, but I didn’t catch that the first time.)
The event guidelines do not allow events to be stacked on the same day in the same general location by the same owner or group of owners. This is considered to be all part of the same event. The listing for the flash mob clearly stated that it was part of the main event, so obviously it did not “stand on its own.” Again, you might actually read what was sent to the cache owner before making claims.

How Ironic is that? 😈
WGA is getting away from logging multiple attended logs at WGA events YET our approvers via geocaching.com reviewers will NOT let West Bend also host an “adult event” Friday night that stands on its own nor a Flash Mob event on Sunday that stands on it’s own (meaning it gets it’s own cache page)? They want them to log multiple attended on the $1000 Cache Ba$H page for the other 2 events.
If you look up geowoodstock 6 they have 7 events within 5 days and they ALL get their own cache page!!! 🙄
Someone please explain! Tami

The reality is that PQs are not useful for this sort of thing.
It seems PQ’s are limited. How does that get fixed? Perhaps request what things you’d like to see improved on the GC.com forums and maybe they might agree and implement some of your ideas….
I always love it when computer system users complain about how the system doesnt do this or that or the other and then probably never take the time to request an enhancement via provided means.
If you are a paying subscriber and would like to see something get better, voice it on the Geocaching website forum thread. I for one want to see continued enhancements for the money I pay to support the site.
The PQ seems to be an area that could use lots of enhancing, mainly because the PQ seems to be the answer to many “can I do this” type questions about the site because they don’t offer the functionality elsewhere. It’s also an area that customers actually PAY to use.
Can you tell I work in software development for a living?
It would be simple enough to add some metadata to the pocket queries, such as number of finds, date last found, average words per log, etc. This would take a change to the GPX file standard utilized by Groundspeak and others. Its a pretty basic XML extension and could be changed easily enough. The problem is a) very few people care, b) even fewer would ask for it, and c) they have bigger fish to fry, such as expanding server banks, upgrading hardware, fixing bugs, etc. Something that only 1% of the people would care about isn’t going to make it onto the priority list. Now, if you offered money to fund the development…
The reality is that PQs are not useful for this sort of thing. They only contain the last 4 logs (plus any of your own.) You could, in theory, write a program to view each cache page and record the number of logs, but this would take a while to run and would have to be timed to avoid triggering the circuit breakers on GC.com. Also, note that there is a difference between number of logs versus number of finds. Finds would be much more difficult to extract, as the current log counters don’t seem reliable. I would suggest that the top ten list would be heavy on virtuals in Las Vegas and Washington DC, but that is just a guess on my part.
05/09/2008 at 11:00 pm in reply to: Backpacker Mag: Does geocaching violate Leave No Trace? #1889056The reality is that NO ONE leaves no trace. If you walk through a wild area (or any area not paved, for that matter), you will compress the dirt, break leaves, stems and branches, and generally disturb “nature”. You will carry off dirt, leaves, and seeds on your boots, clothes and hair. Of course, so do the birds, deer, bear, and raccoons. If you put a boat in a lake, pond or river, you slightly displace the water up the bank, which both slightly erodes the bank and also deposits silt/algae on the bank. I’ve found that LNT is one of those political slogans which people try to use to make their argument against this or that, rather than having any legitimate meaning.
That said, there is no reason to tear up a location looking for a cache, but there is also no reason to place a cache that would tempt someone less ethical to do just that. In the end, it is up to the hider to select locations which can support the level of searching they will require. This has become more important as we have grown in numbers, especially near population centers.
I’d go the other way around. There is no reason for anyone to buy this from you when they can buy a “real” new one, with a receipt and store warranty, for the same or less than what you paid. If you bought it online (and not on Ebay), I would bet that you can return it for full credit with no issues.

So does this clear up things like the “Hot Wheels Trader” cache issue? Or does it still have to be the “Die Cast Toy Car Trader”?
Nope, but you can MENTION the types of cars to be traded in the description.
Not too hijack your sales thread, but did you try to take it back to the retailer where you purchased it? Most vendors will give you refunds on GPS units if the unit doesn’t do what you want it to do.
You can make a Whereigo cartridge anyway you like, but to make a Wherigo CACHE, you must have a container at the end (or at least somewhere along the route) with a log sheet and you must require use of the Wherigo cartridge to find the cache, i.e. you can’t have the cartridge and then also give normal coordinates. Of course, hacking the cartridge is trivial, so you also have to police the logs to watch for people who don’t properly follow the cartridge.

Not to put anyone on the spot, but does that mean you still can’t say “and if you look across the street, you’ll find Cranky Pat’s, one of my favorite pizza joints and watering holes”?
Right.
First of all, Wild Rose does not qualify as a city under any known definition. I believe it needs a significant upgrade to reach village status! 😀
Second, those caches named Walgreens #XX or Starbucks #XX (or Home Depot #X for those of us who venture into NE Illinois) do NOT meet the guidelines and would not be approved under the new guidelines. You will notice that Miss Jenn specifically stated that business names should not be in the cache name. But if you need to say, “Park behind the Walgreens to take the trail into the woods”, the new guideline allows that. The old guideline did not.
Third, the old guidelines did not allow for any commercial product to be mentioned. In theory, we were supposed to refer every Star Wars reference, every Harry Potter Reference, every Dr. Seuss reference, and, yes, every Hot Wheels reference to Groundspeak. All the reviewers were probably a little bit lenient on this, but now those references are allowed. You still cannot promote these products, but you can MENTION them or REFERENCE them. You still cannot use logos, provide links to corporate sites or generally do things that promote a corporation or other business.
