Try Beverly. It’s Illinois’ oldest active cache, one of the oldest period, and it’s a sweet walk in one of their big forest preserves. There’s another cache along the way, making it a two-fer. Should take less than an hour round-trip. I’d have to look for details, but it’s right around the Schaumburg area, so should fit right into your route. The Chicagoland area is actually pretty blessed with good quality caching in the tree parks. Just watch out for the tree cops and the back-in boys 😉 .
Congrats Bobcat! When’ll we see that first log picture 😀 ?
Just a caveat, the fine print states no auto units, handhelds only…
Go to the pocket query screen and uncheck the days you are receiving it. If you don’t need the query’s info at all, you can also archive the query with a box on the left. Hope that helps.
Belated congrats here too Rick. If timing works out, maybe we can do it in person at that event coming up.
Speaking of the NW 12-pack, I was just poking my nose into it, and one’s been archived. One of the Bjornsons. Got a new choice in mind Ralph? Nudge, nudge.

Geocaching is way too much fun to take seriously.
AMEN!
Hey, I take exception to that! 😆
There are at least a couple puzzles in the Valley that the looser constrictions of Geochecker helped me get. Say… 9 out of 10 are correct with unimpeachable resources, and I have one number that isn’t working. For whatever reason my source is different. Being able to go up and down the scale on one digit means I’ll get it solved that night and not shelve it, or forget it, or just move on to one of the 100 other puzzle caches in my nearest 500.
Plus the aforementioned point about multiple puzzles. I will usually work on puzzles in clusters and run several through the checker in a sitting. If I get one puzzle wrong, I’m done for my time-out period with Evince. I’ll usually go find something else to get done rather than wait. With Geochecker, I just move on to the next one. It’s really a matter of convenience.

I wish I could have been there to see the final on that one… 😯 . Hope you liked it Ralph, I thought it was a ton of fun.

Did you really have to post that picture of me hanging out in the WGA server room? ❓ That part of WGA headquarters is supposed to be off-limits… obviously someone did not confiscate your digital camera when you took the tour.
Really?! I thought it might be the server farm at the Lilypad 😆 .
I have no vested interest in this discussion, but I will bite on the bait. I will add a disclaimer that I see nothing wrong with the original log asking God to bless America before I begin playing devil’s advocate.
First, there is another involved party here whose side is not being told. I am completely neutral in this and something tells me the writing in caps came at the end rather than the beginning of the chain of communication. While the Constitution is a great document and does protect my right to believe in God, it also protects another person’s right to not believe. Without any context to the discussion, I have no idea at what point things obviously devolved. I for one would be greatly pressed before I would discuss my personal beliefs in depth with a complete stranger. The nature of geocaching’s online community does break down some barriers between strangers, but not to what I would consider that level of familiarity.
Sometimes people say things in logs that make me roll my eyes, but I have yet to feel the need to post a reply on a geocache page that is public domain. In this case someone did feel pressed enough. Why, I have no idea, but they have their reasons. Without hearing from them, I feel this is taking a (mostly) private argument to a wider audience.
If the other involved party has nothing to say on the subject they must feel that it is private and that’s the way it should remain.
This post isn’t directed at anyone, so please: no flaming projectiles. I simply saw a very one-sided discussion.
Congratulations guys 8) . For all the caching that we do, I know you’re climbing an even taller mountain. Good luck on the next milestone and we’ll cross paths some time soon.

A curious note: We found 18 caches in 8 counties; the first was found on the heels of Team Honeybunnies in Lincoln County and the last was on the heels of Team Honeybunnies in Iron County.
We smiled when we started seeing your name in the logs in Ladysmith. Great to see you’re really up and moving again! And congratulations on those 72 counties as well. Make sure you pass through Stevens Point and say hi when you log the Challenge cache.
Did you happen to stop by the Rusk County Historical Society when you did the cache there? That place is incredible! Every attic in a 50 mile radius must be empty.
Our loop was Minocqua, Boulder Junction, Hurley, Ashland, Hayward, Ladysmith. Yours?
We’ll also be logging some of the Ashland ECs you guys must have done. Hope you had as much fun as we did 😀 .
Yep, I was there 8) . Congratulations Ralph. Shall we meet at the next milestone as well 😀 ?
