Heh,heh. “Thanks for visiting, now leave”? Absolutely no harm intended 😀 . We’d be interested in sharing funding on this one. Looks like a fun idea.

A question on geocoin trading. Is it easier to keep your inventory for trade purposes using one of the commercial sites? If so, can you let me know which one is being used the most. The Tapps & I have coins to trade but need a way to keep track of them better before we really get into it. (Yes, I have some trades pending with sweetlife.)
Thank you
AuntieNaeThere are only two really active trading sites, geocoincollection.com and cointracking.com. Both have their adherants and both have their plusses, but I went with geocoincollection because of their ease of use. You simply go through the list of coins and mark whether you have, are trading or are seeking and your lists are done. When looking at your trader list, you can simply click and see who else is looking for it, who has the coin you’re seeking or who has the coin available. All huge benefits when you’re trying to find the ones you really want. At least 90% of my trades are initiated based on seeing coins or my coins being seen on that site.
Look at both sites and see which works best for you, but at barely more than a dollar a month, you’re getting a lot of versatility. It’s like GSAK for coins.
You know I need to be in for one Robin, maybe we can work something out next time we’re together. Save me one, maybe a couple if you have them to spare. 8)
I think the coins for the Chippewa Valley event were a big hit, and they have learned from their first year and are making them trackable this time around. Very cool. If it’s in the budget, I think that would be a pretty spiff participation tchotchke.
Although a t-shirt could be nice too. I’m still waiting for one that says “I survived the Gauntlet”. 😀
You can add the Honeybunnies to the trading list. You can see our trading and seeking lists at geocoincollection.com.
Heyyyy! You cheated! The crocs go south for the winter and you can walk on the water. Glad to see people still out there doing it though. It’s a great cache.
After reading back through, I realized it might have been misconstrued that I was referring to One Paddle Short’s posting with mine. I consider Tim one of my new friends made in geocaching and I just wanted it to be clear that my post was in reference to the topic at hand.
That being said, I’ll weigh in on this once more. I was greatly annoyed to see Wisconsin referred to as a nexus of cheating. I could just as inaccurately and unfairly say that Washington is a nexus for pederasts and frottage afficionados. The glory of the internet is that one can say anything without the fear of meeting the people you’re slagging half a country away. Of course I could be completely wrong and these people are just as unpleasant in person.
Logging temp finds is a personal choice. I haven’t, others have. To claim it’s cheating is a bit melodramatic. I’ve attended 8 or 9 events to date. I can’t recall. You can go to my profile and see 8 or 9 events. If a person has logged temp finds you can simply look at their profile and know. They are being completely up front that they have found a temp cache and logged it. It’s about as deceitful as wearing Groucho glasses. Nobody’s hiding anything. But there is a certain power in saying A-HA! I’ve found you out! I would consider logging false finds as being much more egregious, and without checking log books one by one, completely hidden from oversight.
Lastly, I wish issues like this would just go away. I come to the forums to spend time with my friends and acquaintances, not to argue about things that GC.com could easily rule one way or another if they chose to. We could easily have a situation like our neighbors one state west where there is infighting, name calling, splinter groups and just general unhappiness. Geocaching brings so much pleasure to my life, why muck it up with the kind of issues we deal with in the rest of our lives?

Congratulations guys! Can’t wait to see what you choose for 1,000. Considering #500, it might be worth tagging along 😀 .
Oh. And now I want a pony too 😀 .

Oh Jeremy,
that’s like one of those sh**less ponies Jim tried to talk his parents into getting as a pet from the fair when he was a kid… you’ll have to ask him about that one…. can’t help think of the story everytime we see a “Shetland.”
CathyI grew up on a hobby farm, and I wish they really were sh**less. Many a life’s lesson was learned behind a shovel 😯 . I’ll have to hear that story next time we cross paths. I’ll swap for the one about me being three years old and casting aspersions as to the parenthood of the other drivers on the road (following my mother’s example of course).
Way to go LJ! That has to be one of the more impressive cache feats by any WGA member. Very cool! Beats our APE hands down. Hope an event comes up soon to get the full story.
Two bunnies, Zuma and WI_Robin did this one together in sub-four not counting the others we did that day. Preplanning and having a plotted paper route are a must. Zuma drove, I navigated and the missus and Robin were our legs. There are some nice lakeshore caches along the way and One Of Seven (or One Of Only Seven, something like that) is a must-do cache. It’s on our favorites list. Go inside if you can.
The caches aren’t a challenge, nor are they scenic, but they stick out because as a whole they’re easily remembered and it’s something tangible to grasp (“Hey! Let’s go do the BoBs!”). This was a four hour drive from Central Wisconsin, so the only reason I ended up down there was because it captured my imagination. Southern Wisconsin has a lot of fine caching between here and there. Having a goal like the BoBs was what got us down there. But, to be honest, if geocaching was only BoBs I wouldn’t have stuck with it very long.
Genius Loci has created a nice magnet that definitely tugged at me. It also was a good excuse for a road trip and to spend a weekend with friends. We have only done a few border caches in Illinois since, and that probably speaks volumes about the lure of the BoBs. Make a weekend of it. There’s some great diversity and some HUGE tree parks that I wouldn’t have expected.
Have fun! It was a memorable day.

What was the deal with taking the canoe out in the middle of winter? Couldn’t you wait until spring or summer to attempt this one… at least then you wouldn’t instantly die if the canoe capsized. 🙂
Here’s what happened to the last guy to fall into the Fox 😯 !
Congratulations Marc! It’s been a great year full of statistics and numbers and charts and graphs and breakdowns(for those who’ve tried your puzzles at least 😆 ).
