    Big ups from the Bunnies!

I read a log from a newbie not too long ago on a cache I had done previously. He had taken the log book home to read through it and would return it in “a week or two” .

How many times have you absconded from a cache with the pen or pencil in your pocket?

Yesterday in Eau Claire, we were doing one of the presidential series with a 4 terrain. It wasn’t… until I dropped the cap and watched it trace a delicate bouncing path about 100 feet down the hill and onto the ice. That upped the grade nicely.

Big ups from the Honeybunnies! Heck. Between Appleton and West Bend, you’ll be on your way to 1500. Congratulations!

Yup. Can’t say enough about my GSAK . I’m even waiting to shop for a new Garmin X model until GSAK gets a fix for the new language issues.

That’s kind of the point I was getting at. If people start posting their hides on the “Recommended Caches” page, it will have more activity. – from Major Brat. (Still learning the link thing.)

And that would definitely be a good thing . It’s a great idea, and I’ve never understood why it’s relatively unused. For the price of exactly nothing, you get to tell everyone about a great cache that may not be getting attention. Not every cache can be nominated for cache of the month. Well… yes they can, but since a nomination costs a vote, I’ll be stumping one cache at a time.

A highly topical subject here in the Bunny Hutch. My fiance, my family, my friends and co-workers all think I’m obsessed. I’ve followed this pattern in other pasttimes before, and someday, although I can’t foresee it now, geocaching too will fade. It’s in my nature.

But for right now, the combination of mental stimulation, physical demand and the ability to quantify it all is nectar & ambrosia.

When I climbed, popular cliffs had a guidebook and you could tick off routes as you did them. I carried the Climber’s Guide to Devil’s Lake around like a bible. Everywhere I climbed I usually picked up a guidebook and now they still hold a place of pride on my bookshelf.

That too was a tight social circle where the same people met in the same places every weekend and the positive energy of all sharing goals really helped you push.

These boards are a real parallel to that scene. There’s always someone to share experiences with in what is still a fringe activity. So thanks for being my enablers everyone. Perhaps next I can get addicted to self-help books on addiction .

Glad to attempt your challenge TeamEverest. But for the sake of keeping the boards tidy, perhaps next time you can post your new caches to the Recommended Caches forum after they are approved?

Don’t worry about people trying them, as most of us wait with bated breath for new caches to appear close to home. Wish us luck!

Ditto, BQ. Everybody who posted previously have had a point. This isn’t the proper place for announcing new caches. But… other than keeping the boards neat & tidy, what did we gain by pointing out their faux pas?

They posted their new cache on the MN boards as well. Obviously they are excited about their idea. Good for them. Over there it was simply not replied to, which ought to be statement enough.

If you check their profile, they’ve been relatively inactive in the past, but seem to be getting the bug. Perhaps they perceive their lukewarm reception on the boards as indifference or cliqueishness?

When it first went down, nothing was working. Now the Recent Logs and milestones scroller are working. I imagine Brew is working diligently at it. He’ll get it back up, but in the meantime this is a thanks for my 2nd favorite site.

Big ups from the Honeybunnies! Was it at Fox Proposal Point?

in reply to: Any Interest in “Fishing”? #1750582

Last Call! I’ll check again this evening, but if there are no takers we’ll just head for the first cache rather than rendezvousing.

Okay, final answer. We’ll be meeting at the McDonalds parking lot on the east side of the Poynette exit off I90/94 between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. this Sunday the 29th. Anybody interested should post here because if we lack takers we’ll simply head for the first cache and avoid the foam McMuffins. If you’re one of our paperless friends I have a GSAK file (padded in case we’re hot that day) and a Streets & Trips map available. If anyone from that area knows, I’d be curious what ground cover is like right now. Things are a bit upside down. We have roughly 1″ of snow in Stevens Point and we were rudely surprised to find 6″ on the ground this weekend in Milwaukee.

1/29 indeed. I’ll hammer out final details tonight. Probably 8:30-9:00 and need to pick an efficient start point. Stay tuned.
