This service rocks. I already got an FTF from it(10:20 PM). You can set your notify radius, and now I ignore the weekly posting. You do have to go through and manually enable each cache type to be noified though.
Nothing to do with nothing, but this was the old Posse Comitatus compound back when they were still evading taxes. When the government siezed it, the community took the opportunity to turn it into a park.
If you’re not into ATVs this one can be a bit noisy, because you’re sharing the trails. The first time we were here the park was packed, and we choked on dust the whole time. The second time, I came back for The Big Quadruple, also in the same park, and had it to myself. The Embarrass River IS really pretty, and is even better a little down river in the park where it enters a small gorge.Well, the Honeybunnies will bite. We only get to see you in the logs when we get down past Necedah and Castle Rock Flowage. You must be cached out up to about a 50 mile radius by now. 500’s a big milestone when you live in the country, so congratulations.
Awww. Come on guys, Sandals only on ones? I’ve worn mine all the way up through fours and fives, but my legs DO look like I stuffed them in a bag of wet cats. We enjoy the difficult terrain caches so for us it’s more disappointing when the grade is over-inflated. When the grade is right on on a hard one it’s oh so tasty. Haven’t done any yet but I think I hear an Evil Monkey calling…
Soon, Dear. We’ll actually be in your neck of the woods this weekend. Lamprey will fall to us, just not yet.
Interestingly enough, that would cause problems for some really good caches like a couple of watery caches in the Submarine series that Geopink disabled for the winter when they’re inaccessible, and I’ve seen that on WISSearchers’ Monopoly series too. I know that I look at some of those crossed out caches too and wish I could do them or not look at them. I’ve requested a couple to be archived. One the owner had removed it before moving, but forgot to archive it, and it was archived within a day, the other several people were unable to find it, the owner was unresponsive to my e-mails and admin’s and it was archived after a month wait. A blanket might not be appropriate, but if one’s been down for awhile, e-mail the owner. Not everybody is involved in geocaching as much as we are. Maybe they haven’t thought about it in awhile.
I only have once, because he was new and had placed out a cache, then ended up with his own FTF because he wanted to put a TB in. I think I was being helpful in that instance, but Major Brat is right that some people have an interesting way of playing. In a more benign vein a summer school class near us has an account and different kids have been out at different times and logged the same cache each time.
It seems interesting that we have Jeep TBs and Project APE caches and talk of podcast caches, all interesting but fluff, yet we can’t get the higher ups to fill the needs of the community(referencing Docapi’s post). I enjoyed meeting everybody at the event we attended, but we were there to cache, just like everybody else. If I were not at an event and somebody gave me coordinates to a cache that did not show up on my stats and wasn’t acknowledged by GC.com I probably wouldn’t do it. There are too many to do yet that do show up.
Other states events seem to revolve around socializing and oh yeah, there are some caches nearby. I don’t think GC ever anticipated events like ours and needs to be a living, breathing, evolving organism. Correct me if I’m wrong. Be cool Honeybunny!Ka-BOOOOM! (There’s no little smiley with a mushroom cloud – couldn’t process it all).
Okay, we just attended our first event. The prevailing attitude in WI seems to be that we log all finds at events. We vacillated and hemmed and hawed, and since we are a two person team, we voted on it. Ms. Honeybunny felt we should get credit for every cache we find. If the caches stunk we would never have reached this conclusion. On the other side of the coin, I see the descriptions of other states’ events and I’m surprised that one could get an “event cache”(it is listed as a cache on your account page) for attending an ice cream social. I’m okay with that, but if I spent 8 hours in the car to find 30 event caches, I feel credit is deserved.
This will be a hot topic for sure, but does the onus lay with WGA to determine this or with the big dogs to finally pick a side of the fence. If the decision came down officially that an event is an event whether it is a marathon or the 50 yard dash I would abide by it. I feel if there was a decisive action at the national level you wouldn’t be forced to make a decision that will definitely be controversial among the membership.Ha, ha guys. Okay, I get the idea. It’s more clever than I expected. Just quick canvassed the area and didn’t expect to find this one the first time after doing Kraken. Just seems like that wall has seen some aggressive searching. Be cool Honeybunny!
Congrats from the Honeybunnies. When you’re totally dry for caches up north, get in touch and we’ll arrange a raid to the south!
Hey Fu, talked to Ms. Honeybunny last night and having an extra set of eyes and bunny ears in the car sounds great. If you want more details fire us on e-mail through groundspeak. Be cool Honeybunny!
Might not hurt to have someone who knows the ropes at an event. It could be an all bunny carload.
I think I’ll lay awake tonight staring at the ceiling as I ponder my place in infinity.(Big laughs!)
