Wow. Missed this great thread while on vacation, and Cathunter really hit our opinions on the head. It’s pretty disappointing to see, for example, less than ten finds and five hides over three years, and all the frowns in their cache logs. We ran into one like this in our first 20 or so and it led to a lot of our questions in this forum.
It really set a tone for us. We felt pretty good until we hit this wall, and went back 3 times to try to find a cache that it turned out wasn’t maintained. We’re stubborn enough that we kept trying others and got over our hump, but what if that was someone’s first cache?
Thanks for the dime. Be cool Honeybunny! Please add Team Honeybunnies to the list. After our first trip since starting this sport, we’ve done WI,IA,OK,TX,NM,CO & WY.
Be cool Honeybunny!Just a punchline, and you can reverse engineer the joke. “No sir, I’m a frayed knot.”
I’ve shot my mouth off about liking micros before, so I say go for it. I guess just try to make it unique somehow. In my short career I’ve done quite a few park and logs already and some were memorable and some weren’t.
I understand the constraints of the urban dweller in finding a new spot to place a cache, so I understand it might not have a view, but the hide could be really mind-blowing too…
I’ve torn my hair out looking for some magnetic micros. Oh, wait. I shave my head. But some of those have really been a riot. I guess when I get around to placing my first cache, I just want it to be memorable. Follow your muse.
Thanks for the use of the pulpit Brother Opossum!I think we put that in a lot of logs already.
Gonna’ have to guess Just Love This Cache. On a side note, I wish there was a clever abbreviation for “I would never have seen this without geocaching”.
Ooh, Ooh! I finally get to say it! Put parking coordinates! Please? I’ve had a couple where I really wondered if we were on public land and the map wasn’t clear. Him’s nervous.
In town, I’m gonna’ have to vote for micros. Just more options for clever hides.
But variety really is the key. We did Lone Rock cache yesterday and hiked six miles round trip to a sweeping vista, an ammo can and a rarely visited hide. Plus a fierce bushwhack. Really cool. Follow your muse where it takes you, but creativity is what’s memorable. Really thinking about our first hide…Come over to Central Wisconsin. It’s been sunny all day and we’ve got Ms. Honeybunny’s blistered feet and my chafed rear to prove it. Thanks Lone Rock Cache![})]
Welcome from Team Honeybunnies! You’ll find that the WGA is just about the friendliest group around. They have been to us, and we’re newbies too. See you in the logs. Be cool Honeybunny!
I know what you’re talking about. Sometimes when I post I find that only part of my list makes it to the WGA recent logs, or that they are scattered along the page. Some peoples’ are in neat blocks… Perhaps it has to do with site traffic when we post.
As long as I get credit I don’t much care, but it is nice to see how all my new friends are doing.Aw shucks. Blush. Twarn’t nuthin. Thanks for bringing us into the community you guys. See you in the logs. Be cool Honeybunny!
Thanks Astro D’s! We’ll do it your way. It’s pretty well reasoned, and as hard as Neptune was for us, we’d be proud to log it. I just see some teams log stages on not particularly hard multis that Don’t specify like you have. Oh and by the way, thank you for a truly excellent series. We’re going back for more tomorrow.
Haven’t made that one ourselves, but several of our friends are religious about going.
Ditto. I was hoping someone here would have the skinny.
