Wow, that didn’t take long… 😉 . Congratulations, and glad we could share some of those finds with you.
Thanks for noticing Gwyn, you must watch everybody 😉 . It was a great vacation, and yes, we did another DeLorme. Little Rhody has 12 pages. Three have two segments, but you’re only required to find a cache in one segment. Physical caches only and the pages are only 11 miles across as opposed to I think 22 for Wisconsin?
People have completed it in less than a day, but we were on vacation and that seemed a bit beside the point. We did 9 pages the first day, starting almost right by the hotel, and then we did 3 the next day, taking a liesurely day in the Newport area enjoying the beaches and the seafood. BBWolf got back to us within a couple hours with the coords for the final, and we went and found it at the crack of dawn the next morning before heading north for Maine via the other New England states.
The icing on the cake was getting to meet the cache owner at an ocean clean-up CITO. The locals were good people 8) .
If it floats your boat, I’d really recommend it. It was a lot of fun, and the countryside was pretty with quite a few Revolutionary veterans in the cemeteries.

Nice day for it, too.
Yes it was! Collected some bones today 😀
They wouldn’t have been some “Lonely” bones, now would they? 😉
Might’ve been. 8) Hard to pass up 3 5/5s!
The final made our Highlights bookmark list. It’s a nice series that doesn’t get visited. We did it in a thunderstorm since it was the only time Zuma and I could coordinate that one together. Hope you had fun too 8) .
Nice to see that the park is happy with this arrangement, and I think this is the way to go forward rather than temps. That’s more than enough for 95% of attendees, and for the remainder there are more outside the park.
Woo hoo! Congratulations guys!
Wow indeed. Time has definitely fled this year, it seems like only yesterday. Congratulations on that first milestone, and may you share many happy moments down the years.
Zuma and I ran into a classic in southwest Iowa… “First look with your GPS, then with your eyes.” 🙄

You also forget the other end, NONE. That’s how many I intend to find. I have a hard enough time being social with 5 people, much less 500. Doesn’t sound like my idea of a good time, but that’s just me. Put me down for none, in any case.
Ditto.
Heh, heh. Yeah, big crowds give me hives, but with so many people attending who’ve helped fill the back pages of my life the last few years, it’s going to be pretty easy times. Looking forward to catching up with a lot of people.

This humble volunteer is still looking for a patch of grass for himself and the missus this weekend. Any samaritans? Splitting a site, paying for your lawn space. Not paying for a hotel I’ll hardly sleep in, and if neccessary I’ll camp in the car.
You’re more than welcome to camp in our yard…
😆Heh, heh. No, looks like I’ll car camp at the Wally World lot… Now if I could just convince our approvers to allow a lamp post cache there 😉 .

Okay… Tried a couple campgrounds tonight. One, no room at the inn, and the other was friendly, but made it plain that my arrival by 9:00 was too late for setting up Friday evening. A third had the answering machine on during stated business hours. Still actively seeking camping arrangements if anyone has an angle.
Coming late to the sleeping arrangements game, but is anyone still looking to defray the cost of their campsite or have some free lawn space (or for a nominal fee)?
Congratulations on the big milestone! I guess we still need to make a point of crossing paths too… 8) .

Reading the articles, it appears this was just a small fire that knocked out power to the data center. I’m sure the gc.com servers and the data are OK, so there is no need to panic… armageddon is not here (yet). 😀
Here is an article with a photo of people carrying server equipment out of the building:
Thanks for the voice of reason resident WGA comp wizard 😉 . The servers weren’t damaged, so while it will be an incredible hassle for Mssr. Irish ERM… Scratch that!!! GC.COM IS BACK. W00T!
Loading slow, but I accessed our profile and all is good. Logged out to make room for the million other users. Can a company’s own users create a Denial of Access attack 😉 ?
Well, there’s some agreement and disagreement on my part, and I’d be happy to explain.
Cache of the Month has served our organization very well for about seven years now, and while there has been some attempted shenanigans, closely monitored, essentially some of the best caches in Wisconsin have become COTM. I do not believe that every month’s winner is the best cache in Wisconsin at that particular time. I do believe that the current system does highlight caches worth doing. We have personally done at least a third of the caches on that list, and all were at least above average if not among our all-time favorites. Many worthy caches simply will not win because they don’t get the visitation for there to be enough votes.
That is where the Top Ten lists would provide some excellent insight in my mind. I would like to see this, but not as a replacement for COTM, more likely as an ongoing forum topic where we can share discussion. For all the time geocachers spend on these forums, we don’t spend a lot of time actually discussing good caches and why we enjoyed them.
I championed the Recommended Caches forum a couple years back and posted faithfully as we did a lot of very good caches in tucked-away areas, but that forum has never really taken off. I’d like to see some Top Ten lists, and I think I’ll post my own, but not tonight. Time to hang with the family.
Discussion anyone?
