You should contact the Hazardous Substance Spill
1-800-943-0003. It is better to be safe then sorry.

I agree with most of the posts but I thought I better add in my 2 cents or I would never post anything.

If a cache is in a unique area and had some thought behind it I like to point it out in the log to help promote or entice more caches like it and give the person that placed it the recognition they want and deserve. If the cache is not out of the ordinary I usually leave a log TFTC SL TNLN. If I can’t find a cache I am more then happy to add a frowny face and try to explain how I searched to help future seekers. I feel that few post are worse then smiley faces that shouldn’t be. Maybe, sometimes, some of the TFTC logs are from people that didn’t really find it.

in reply to: Doing a research paper on geocaching #1946466

Part of the research paper was to try and explain why people like geocaching. Well it turned to almost an addiction. A good one. So I will just ask it to everyone. Why is geocaching so addicting? If you have an answer the almost the same as someone else please log it anyway. If you would like to send me a private message that will work too. Why is geocaching addicting? Why does it become an intricate or intrinsic (Thanks Northwoods Tom) part of our lives?

I am planning on sharing this when I get done. Unless I get an F then it must have not been any good.

Thank you for all your help.

It is best to stand back as far as you can and chuck rocks at it. Safety first! Don’t want to be too close if you are wrong.

in reply to: Book Cache #1945773

Thank you for the ideas so far if any other ideas are out there please let me know. The only things I could come up with, after the mortar box idea failed, was pails and and some type bin but not sure what to use to or way to help keep water out of them and make them accessible. I am planning on placing the books in plastic bags. Any information or experiences would be appreciated.

If you go to http://www.google.com and search faceplate geocache. Then hit images two come up right away.

I agree with unknown or not listed because if it was me and I saw micro I would start looking around in micro mode which makes almost everything a possibility. Which is fine in a sparsely covered area but in a place like this it makes options endless with the wooded shore line and rock rip rap. Thank you for your opinion and anymore I get in the future.

I guess this should go here.

It would be nice to try and educate the department on geocaching. You could show them the logs on the http://www.geocaching.com website displaying peoples enjoyment of finding this cache for good various reasons, however now it is tainted. I guess to make this short I am disappointed with the logs posted after the cache was disabled. I know that is geocaching.com and not this website but some are members here, those comments are not going to help out any situation like this. ❓

I enjoy geocaching and want awareness and membership to grow. I just don’t like see things that might taint it. If stuff like this happens in the future you just have to try to help them see the reason we do this, otherwise just walk away. You’ll never “make” anyone listen or understand if you insult them.

    Thank you.

Got 17 of 18 on Saturday but could not find #3 of the Bruce Park Mulit. Went back on Sunday with a little help from some friends but no luck. I did enjoy the rest of the caches. I liked how they implemented some of the new cache containers available. Good Job!

in reply to: Rains and flooding? #1936463

We went up to the water falls in Ashland County and they we really nice with all the rain and the tree colors. The Water Falls were really rushing. We started at Morgan Falls and St. Peters Dome and hit 3 caches. My favorite was Potato Falls with 2 caches. It was really roaring. Then ran up to the Michigan border to grab to 2 caches at Superior Falls and add a State.

In October I am planning on heading up and hitting Copper Falls, and a few less known like Wren Falls, Foster Falls, and Saxon Falls.
