I always make sure the cache isĀ not in a State Natural Area. Thomas Meyer will not let a physical cache be placed on State Natural Areas. If it is a State Park then it is easy because I just walk in and tell them what I am doing, place the caches and then hand them the forms when I am done. If I am not sure who the land manager because it is just a small parcel somewhere or you just have no idea who runs it; I just place the cache and then mail the form down to

I always keep a copy of the form. I have been asked for a copy of the form from a land manager in the past.

I might have a problem getting out there to place more caches. I wanted to place caches on all of the portaging trails between the lakes. Can or does anybody want to add some caches around the Sawmill Lake Portaging Area?

When they are all done dip a couple of the scraggly ones in chocolate. Then you will be a romantic.

I always carry a wide variety of caches so I am ready for any location to make a hide. Main factors muggablity and maintenance always come into play when hiding. IĀ prefer to hide small or regular caches if I can find a good spot for them to stay in play. I have been trying to hide lots moreĀ smalls that are winter friendly then micros. I enjoy finding and hiding them more. If you have to walk a mile for a micro in the woods I want you to find it so I add hints. I almost always check the attribute whether or not it is Winter Friendly. Out of all the 386 in the BH Series almost all should have a hint and an attribute.

Whenever I talk about grabbing a benchmark I here “They are not worth a smiley.” That is usually the ends of it so I have given up unless you need some for a challenge cache GC3HV14. A lot of them seem to be on private land around me. I have placed a couple on Waymarking.com and have never had a find. I placed a cache at one and still nobody has marked it. GC5D0FY That is a poor explanation.
What is a benchmark?
A benchmark is a point whose position is known to a high degree of accuracy and is normally marked in some way. The marker is often a metal disk made for this purpose, but it can also be a church spire, a radio tower, a mark chiseled into stone, or a metal rod driven into the ground. Over two centuries or so, many other objects of greater or lesser permanence have been used. Benchmarks can be found at various locations all over the United States. They are used by land surveyors, builders and engineers, map makers, and other professionals who need an accurate answer to the question, “Where?” Many of these markers are part of the geodetic control network (technically known as the National Spatial Reference System, or NSRS) created and maintained by NOAA’s National Geodetic Survey (NGS).Why search for benchmarks?
The interesting thing about benchmarks is that a majority of them are located in plain sight (though largely ignored by the general public). Searching out these locations and documenting them allows others to share pictures of the various areas where they are placed. There’s a certain excitement to be the first to find and document a control point, as well as seeing what others have found through photos on the website’s benchmark gallery. Some of these points haven’t been visited and documented in a very long time, so you may also be rediscovering long neglected objects of American history as well! :wMore info atĀ http://www.geocaching.com/mark/#Whatis

GC22DMD CO posted a note to get it fixed. Just needed a bit of prodding.

I posted this in the Lonely Cache Game Suggestions too but it overlaps. I am not sure if everyone looks at all the forums so here it is.
Here is something I found and curious about.
I there anything we can do about caches like this GC22DMD ? Here is from the cache description This cache is the FINAL for the 4 āTeamed Up v.2ā³ caches that must be found to obtain clues that will lead you to the final cache.
Ok fine but one of the caches needed is GC23Y55 . Now this cache is archived and no longer available. Cache GC22DMD and GC23Y5R would not be able to be found? Sound like a great cache and then a multi at the end but shouldnāt GC22DMD be archived or at least put under owner maintenance for them to fix it up the cache page in a timely manner if some of the stages are gone?
Could I post a needs maintenance log from here without ever trying for it because a stage is gone?

Think like a hider. Do some research. Banana
I just saw this. I don’t know why banana is at the end of that sentence. A little writer tourettes.

There is definitely an extreme difference in a banana and in honey that would make one much better than the other for making a cache.

Number of finds wonāt necessarily tell the full picture forĀ a number of reasons as the object of the game is to get out to theĀ little visited caches to make sure they are in good condition. The points are the carrot -on -the -stick to make that happen.
I agree but it does give a good idea of how many caches are getting changed out and new cache getting added to the list. The goal is still to accumulate the most points by cleaning off the oldest caches. Ā If a 1,000 caches get done in a year then is shows as a group we cleaned off the list twice (Not Literally all of them). I think as a goal of checking out old caches and showing them some love this would be an added congratulations to all the participating members as a whole. At the event someone could stand up and say. As a whole all of the participants in the membership cleaned up 1,000 lonely caches, let’s keep that number growing, and then there will be an applause to everyone. Maybe it would have an adverse effect. I don’t know. PositiveĀ is how I imagineĀ it.

The following Graph shows the number of cachers that participated in the LCG since 2008 and the total number of finds the top earner made.

The next one is just a more detailed graph showing the number of cachers.

I think these are theĀ main possible suggestionsĀ so far.Ā
* Dividing the state into āzonesā similar to the Cache of the Month
zones.* Increasing the number of caches from appx. 500 to ??.
* āBadgesā for winnersā profiles similar to the WGASPS badges.
* āMost Wantedā list.Ā Extra points for finding (or DNFing).
* Bonus points for distance from home cords.
* Banner or graphic on the LCG webpage telling members about the
annual LCG Event and that there are prizes.* Post top 3 earners to Facebook and pats on the back and milestone
forum* Ask LCG participants to mention the WGA LCG in logs when hunting.
* Keeping events in Lonely Cache saturated areas.
Anything else for the list …
