At least you know you have something in common right off the bat.

in reply to: How often do you check your GC email? #2035376

    I use my Primary Email.

I get sometimes up to 100 or more emails a day so I check it many times a day to keep on them. Especially in the summer. You get 5-10 cachers hit 5 -10 to different sets of geocaches around the area they add up fast and are very different.  A group run on the BH Series will net me way about 300 emails or more. So I look at first word, last word and count the lines. Delete away. You also have to keep your deleted folder empty so that if you are clicking away and say oops you can jump to your deleted folder and read the extra log. I have special folders they get placed into based on what they are about so I can keep them sorted until I get through them all. I like to send immediate feedback emails to some geocachers if they give me some new info or give a that-a-boy for maintenance and stuff to keep the good logs rolling.

I even get emails for supplies and what I am using or where to get it at what price so I just started a geocaching hiders page on Facebook to limit all the extra research.

Knowing what the bots are crawling would be worthless but knowing what members are viewing would not be.

It was starting to get dark while I was caching in Irvine Park, Chippewa Falls. When I got out to the road near my truck the Park Ranger was there waiting for me. I figure I am in trouble for making him wait to close the gate behind me. He looks at me and my Maxexpedtion pack and asks “Are you a Naturalist?” I said “no, just looking around” and apologized for taking to long to get out of the park. Anyway I call up 400Eiger and to tell him what happened and he busts out laughing and I now wonder what the heck is so funny. I say “what? I know more about plants then you do.” and he says ” why where you running around in the woods naked?!”

Maybe you had to be there.

Event has been published. Of course with the event rules I can only really make the event the part where we all get together and plan the days adventure. Like dropping of vehicles and kinds of features the group wants to go to. Hope to see you there for another fun and exciting adventure.

in reply to: What if we had a WGA baseball-style hat #2034733

It would have to be good quality so it keeps shape and would have to be like a golf hat so it breaths. It would probably be about $25 but better than a bunch of $10 hats nobody wants because they are lame. You could sell them as Deer Fly Repellent.

    Outside of geocaching.
Here are some links for information about me from the commercials I made, to work and geocaching

I have a degree in Marketing and a certificate in Supervisory Leadership.
I have been the Internet Coordinator for Chippewa Valley Satellite / Chippewa Valley Electric since September 2005 http://www.chipvalley.com . Before that I pulled away from my own business Northwoods Electronics. http://www.northwoodselectronics.com I had found a niche in our area and was able to fill it. During almost the same time I was the Electronics Manager at FS Appliance and TV / Ace Hardware in Ladysmith. I have worked at the family business forever. Hunter’s Best Deer Scent, http://www.deerpee.com.
My life has been nothing but building customer relationships and growing businesses.

Previously in one of the forums we talked about getting out of our comfort zone. This was again one of those times. I made my first commercial back in 2010. Prior to that I was on a 20 minute radio program for a couple years where I talked about everything from Bringing High Speed Internet to the Back Forty to new concept technologies coming up in the future. There is more from going on the radio to help raise money for the Beacon house during their festival of toys for 1 hour blocks for 3 days. You get the idea.

This all makes me into an idea guy. Some good, some bad but almost all no matter what were stepping stones that lead to something good. That is maybe one of the most important. Of course you have to be nice and enjoy what you do, have initiative otherwise you would not be at this point. Trying new things and being open to ideas. If they fail scrap them. Take what you learned and apply them to something else until it is just right. Continue to plan what to do next to keep the excitement going for your customers, members, and fellow geocachers. It applies to everything.

Because enjoy finding and coming up with new ways to play the game keeping it exciting and would like to bring that to the board.

All of the following shows my commitment and excitement for geocaching. After starting into this there is too much I take into account when planning and designing this stuff, so I will just try to provide the gist of a few different things. All this little stuff is a lot of work and adds to the fun of the game.

I love making new and exciting events that have not been done before. Two events not on here yet are the 2nd Annual Hiking/ Geocaching Rusk County Felsenmeer CITO Event on April 25th and the Canoe and Kayak Portaging Event June 6th on Sawmill Lake.  They are in the announcements forum wi-geocaching.com/forums/forum/geocaching-in-wisconsin/announcements/

I make my own fun games promoting my own caches and showing appreciation to the finders. GC57YNN

What started out as being kind of a fun little joke to mess with some fellow geocachers turned out to be quite fun and a challenge. What happens is if you can get into the top 5 finders of my caches I will place a cache out in the area next to the Leaderboard Cache. Might make up a little story about you and share my favorite log of yours on the cache page.

I still have to make a cache for raslas but they made the list after the snow fell so I am waiting to place one in the spring.

Thank you and I appreciate all the participants in all these things. It is what keeps me wanting to find more and more fun things to do.

in reply to: How Many Events Will You Be Attending this Year? #2034358

I am planning on going to all of them. Before I accepted the nomination to run for the board we had a family meeting. In the past this would have been no issue but now with little miss TN Elliphant being only 15 months old I needed to make sure someone would be able to watch her while I am out eventing and doing my part. She is not old enough to volunteer yet but in the future we should have a little helper.

I am happy to work the events to make them a success. Some people like finding, some people hiding, and I like eventing (and hiding a couple caches here and there but don’t tell anyone. up to 863. ssshhh).

The bylaws link on the board members page goes to a broken link on a candidates forum from 2013.

I think the better question is what should fire trucks be? https://www.google.com/search?q=jeep+fire+truck&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=F-DGVLu1OIaNyASy2YD4Cg&ved=0CB8QsAQ&biw=1252&bih=581

    Go figure.

in reply to: What Officer Position? #2034276

My aspirations on the board are to help and contribute my initiative, experience and creative ideas to help grow and keep the membership together; enjoying events and games that only the WGA can provide. I, myself would not seek an officer position my first year unless a board member thinks it would be a good fit.  That goes back to biting off more than you can chew. I would rather do a good job and accel, learn the ropes then under-perform and let the membership down by being over ambitious and being stretched between to many duties.  It is always better to be honest with yourself and others.
