For those considering this, I can comment that this would be a really cool place to visit, as Seth and I visited South Manitou last year. It is essentially an unimproved island in Lake Michigan with great scenery.
For anyone in WI, it would be a long drive though, and that is the main downside.

Although I have not yet visited South – I am aware of motorized tours on South.
You won’t find that on North! During (mandatory) orientation – the ranger tells you be smart, be safe = stay alive. No helicopter rides unless life threatening. From what I heard – guy broke his ankle – took 12 hours or so to be rescued! Once you hit the wildesness area – even the ranger hoofs it like everyone else.
Current plans are an event on South this year too – one that is day tripable.
I have the permission for more earth caches – shot coordinates last year. Will be doing the write ups before the event. You can count on at least another two or so hopefully more.
Keep the Wherigos coming everyone! I am watching with great interest the new ones that keep popping up!

Putting in the link might be a good idea, and knowing that there is wi-fi available nearby will definitely help. Thanks for hiding, and I look forward to finding it down the road.
(Spoiler) Hint added – thanks for the feedback.

it is easily searchable
But correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t you “in the field” when you do these WhereIgo Cartridges?
You got it. The concept is a bit unfair, but it meets the guidelines. And calling the questions “History” is not quite correct. The questions would be more accurately characterized as Wisconsin state trivia. If you don’t have wireless internet on your phone to do the searches, there is a Culver’s very close to the cache area where you can use their free Wi-Fi.
I am open to suggestions – I wanted a simple one for the first one. I’d be embarassed if you knew how BAD my first one in Michigan was! Archaic would be a good descriptor. This one is certainly 100% better than my very first one!
It is indeed Trivia related – I pulled it from the State of Wisconsin website.
I would be more than willing to post the link for people to be prepared if you think it would be best.

Very cool of you to bring this to Wisconsin Conman. We just picked up an Oregon around the holiday and we’ll look forward to coming down to try it out. We would offer to maintain this one, but that area is about a 3 & 1/2 hour drive from our home coords.
I’m honored that you would even think of driving 3.5 hours just to do this cache! Just a heads up – know your state history. FYI – even if you are not the most up to date on it – it is easily searchable.
Listing is now active – GC1KJ23.
Thanks to TyeDyeSkyGuy for helping to make this happen!

I can handle that. Once it gets published, send me the info and I’ll take care of it.
Many thanks!

Perhaps a way to get further interest would be to explain how we can find the WherIgo caches without a Garmin Colorado GPSr.
Wherigo can be played with the Garmin Colorado & Oregeon gps units. It can also be played with a Pocket PC with external GPS. A local cacher just told me last night they were able to take a PPC and hook it up to their 76cs (or similiar gps) and get it to work. (I don’t know all of the specifics yet).
Groundspeak is currently working on a JAVA version of the Wherigo player – which will most certainly open up Wherigo to even more phones and devices.

Greetings Conman,
I live on the far northeast side of Kenosha. Where did you plant the ache? I might be able to handle the maintenance as long as it’s not to far out.
If it does happen to be to far for me to maintain, I bet I can find a local cacher that could help.
Post here, or feel free to PM me.
The cartridge is set to be played in Prairie Springs Park. Here is a cache closest to where the cartrige may be played: BBC 5: Centurian, Why do they Titter So? – GCZCJR. The final with within a few miles of that.

I did my first couple locationless Wherigos yesterday….I’d love to maintain yours but I’m a bit too far north. I might rattle your cage for tips though as I’d like to get at least one set up out this way.
Not a problem – shoot me an email. I’m certainly not an expert or anything but I’ll try my best.
I’m doing a presentation at 4th Annual SW Michigan Chili Cook Off as well. I’m also planning to host an event just for Wherigo and probably a second one for development of cartridges.
