This may have been discussed in the past, I don’t know, but would the WGA ever think of buying a pallet of ammo cans and making them available for sale at events for a small mark-up? (Toss a bunch in the WGA trailer)
Could someone possibly find the Fort McCoy thread?

Peach, do you know of any PIDKA’s? I still have a cache rescue or two from TKKS, and am itching to place one or two before the craphas flies. Heck, I might be working on a puzzle for this spring!

There are certain CO’s I already have on ignore because they actively cache, but don’t check on their own caches when problems come up, even after multiple DNF’s. I won’t mention any names because I just leave it up to the DNF logs to speak for themselves, but at least one is someone I met at an event.

I registered in February of 2004, but didn’t become active until 2008. The first cache I found was the new archive Chip and Dale cache in Green Bay.

I’m afraid this concern can be said of both finders and hiders. I found one cache last week that was in a half in of water in it’s hiding spot with countless logs stating that the cache was waterlogged. The cache owners response to previous logs? “Just place the cache upright.” I’m just waiting for a NM log on that one.
Speaking of being a placer here, I realize there is a history of suspicious cache placements in the Green Bay area (as in two bomb scares) and a lot of those being near businesses/homes/etc. This is why I don’t care to place caches too close to homes or businesses if I can avoid them. Call me old fashioned, but that’s just one placer’s opinion.
On another note, I just came back from doing maintenance on one of my caches where finders stated it was water logged, and I don’t expect much out of finders except to keep the cache in place for future finders and myself.

hopefully our reviewers will keep the standards high, even if groundspeak says they can highlight a guardrail, I would hope they don’t allow it
And yet an physical cache can highlight a guardrail. Sorry, I’ll stop now.
There are some really nice guard rails out there…some have the buttress end, others go right to the ground. You can even find a few of the old cut off ones that are great to tbone a car into. Lots of interesting stuff for the discerning cacher.
That’ll be my next cache, I’ll place it in a guard rail and call it T-Bone. Thanks for the idea and the chuckle!

The whole situation is resolved. What I should have done in the first place was put in the reviewer note that I knew about the proximity issue, but I didn’t. After I posted here, I put in a note explaining I knew I was about 300 feet from the other cache, but that they were separated by the river, and my cache was published just minutes ago.

It’s also been a little slow for me too, but right now GC.com is at about normal.

This didn’t happen while geocaching but when 9/11 happened I was stopped at gunpoint. They thought I was a terrorist and had a hostage. My sister and I had just returned from buying a lawnmower! Still it is pretty freaky to have guns pointed at you. It is something I don’t think you will ever forget.
Please tell us there’s more to the story. I don’t think two people in a car with a lawnmower amounts to terrorism. 🙄

I remember a couple years ago there was talk of creating such a challenge based on a book called Weird Wisconsin, and Babe The Blue Ox in Lakewood is featured in that book. I placed Cache Cow in anticipation of that challenge, though it didn’t materialize at that time. It’s still out there. 😀

I’m reasonably certain it can be logged even after being marked as missing.

I just ran my ZIP Code (54301) and the spot is well within said ZIP Code. I’m hoping the rest of Green Bay is experiencing the same accuracy.

It’s not just geocachers, and it’s not just here. I just read about this incident in my Lions magazine: http://www.wlfi.com/dpp/news/local/Suspicious-package-found-in-Rossville
There is a certain sense of contagious fear and paranoia that leads some people to create large snowballs where there is no snow.
Seriously? 🙄

I’m going to stand by my comments on the log on this one, as well as Chip & Dale. If you see random people going to the same spot and fiddling around with whatever happens to be there, over the course of a year plus, and the thing doesn’t blow up, no bomb. That is espescially if it’s a TKKS cache.

I’m also on the East side of Green Bay. I’ve found most of the East side caches, but I have a few left to find, plus on the West side too. I would say Baird Creek is a beautiful spot to cache. Anywho, good luck with your caching endeavors.
