I am so angry I want to just seriously…kill someone. I don’t often talk that way, so you know it’s bad. Just got back from visiting some of my family in Minneapolis, and when I got to Mom and Dad’s, she was in the middle of sorting through a phone scam that got her. Two thousand bucks. She’s 92 years old and one of the smartest people I know, but they’ve been dealing with a lot of serious health things regarding my dad and she’s just emotionally worn out. She and Dad had to “spend down” their savings, which didn’t take long with his health issues, and are just now getting covered by Medicaid as a result of that. Some a&&hole ripping her off of what little is left is …..well, there’s a special place in h*** for that person.
You’re right, there is a special place in heck for these people. Unfortunately, there are plenty of scammers out there.

We’re paused at 999 mystery caches found. Froggerz has more than twice that many mystery caches found, and for all cache types combined they have 6,999 finds. We both hope to reach our respective milestones together at the same cache at the same time this weekend.
I just saw the post this afternoon on the Wild Bunch, congrats on both cache-stones. I really wish my History Quest cache in Green Bay could have helped, but it’s still there to be found next time you’re in town.

I now have a debit card with one of those chips on it. My credit union has been in the process of phasing out the old style swipe only style cards and they finally got around to issuing the card with the chip in it, mine came in the mail today.

Anyone else here listen to the Pod Cacher Podcast? Well, they have someone on this week’s edition talking about GSAK. I gave it a listen to see what he had to say. Among other things, it was mentioned that one can easily dip all trackables in caches in one log instead of having to do a separate log for each trackable through the website if you log manually. Last time I checked (just a few minutes ago BTW), you can still log all trackables in a cache if you’d like by manually logging a cache on the website. Another thing mentioned is that you need GSAK to correct coordinates. Not quite, you’ve been able to update the coordinates of all cache types since at least October of last year and of those on multis and mystery types since I started caching in 2008, right on the cache page. The cache I logged before coming into the forums was a multi, and I had the coords for the final listed on the cache page since my last visit there about a week and a half ago, and that led me right to the final, without the services of GSAK.

Callbox is the one I was talking about. It was archived in March due to a damp log, but has found-it logs through September. I’m pretty sure that the other WCD caches that were resurrected had Dan’s permission to take them over.
I would imagine so. I just wonder what the story is on Call Box though since Bank Heist and Home at the YMCA were allowed to be relisted by new CO’s, as well as a few other non gadgets. Thankfully densspot and CBIIJ are active in that area to fill in the hole left by WCD.

I’ve discussed with other cachers about WCD, and I know the ones posting here aren’t the only ones disappointed by him archiving his caches. Looking through his archived caches, of course there are some that are rightfully archived. However, I’ve seen where other local cachers have gone in and published caches using containers that WCD had left in place. Quite interesting if you ask me. Heck, I didn’t even need to use my GPS on some of these. I had so much fun and frustration with those gadget caches, and came this close to an FTF on Bank Heist. Is Call Box still active? For the life of me, I couldn’t put that thing back together after I found it. . .even after two PAF’s. Right Bartrod? I would say go after the Great Pumpkin series, not only are the caches great, but the scenery is beautiful. I would also recommend stopping for a bite to eat at Backwaters, which is right across the highway from the letterbox on that trail.
