Wow..  Trekkin and Birdin..  I totally forgot about that ‘history’ ..  but I do remember that day and Ranger Dave being so kind and interested in this ‘new’ sport..  he and I also discovered a native burial site at that same park.. (Roche-a-Cri) when I was out exploring that park further..  I followed Native American Marker Trees to the site.. now only one or two marker trees are left standing..  time moves on.. but thank you so much for remembering me

Hmmmm  I’ve been to all the state parks back in the 2002-2004 years when I geocached..  are there special caches to find in each park now for this?  Would love another reason to visit them all again..

I come here on this site… using Facebook for only my games.. (smiles) I still consider geocaching a sport… go figure (grins)

I’m very happy.. you can only mentor others so far and after a while it’s just wasted words.. now atleast the WGA doesn’t get the “dirty” face in this activity.. of allowing temp cache finds.

The Intregity of the WGA was all that I was hoping to see.. and I’m so glad to yet be a part of that and watch it grow/mature over the years.

Now when Geocaching.com forums blast away on the “RULES” we can stand proud as WGA members and know that we now follow them and don’t sway like a willow in the wind..

You can always “make up” your own rules to a game (which geocaching now has become.. I always called it a sport) and people can always bend rules to meet their own needs.. but it makes me sick on how the lust for numbers has made me lose respect in a few.

One that I respect… He found his “Balance”
BruceS and I once teamed up for a few days to geocache together.. for those of you who don’t remember him or myself.. we were ranked 2nd/3rd in the world of the sport years ago…. to make a long story short..

I saw the lust for numbers first hand … and perhaps no one really noticed how he “retired” shortly after our days together… his constant pushing for his ‘stats’ drove him .. Adventures drove me.. I wondered how this drive could keep his family together.. how when only focused on the numbers allows anything else in… Trust me.. also heard first-hand from the “1st” in the world that her family was failing … teen running amuck.. Now adays.. I also wonder how many families are being torn a*under by this lust of points.

So.. now that it’s just a ‘game’ I might get back into it soon.. and go on adventures again.. but not alone this time… the ‘spark’ is back in me in many ways… and I can’t wait to make memories again in this.. (oops almost called it a “sport”)… “game”..

I’ll head over now to refresh myself on the TERMS of GEOCACHING.COM.. and their RULES.. Because that’s how I want my “game” always played…

Preaching to the choir Lil Otter. Yawningdog’s caches are always classics. We’ve had a great time finding some of his in the far-flung corners of the state. Isn’t Door County Challenge his?

Yes.. it’s on my bookmark list back in 2003 of caches I yet wish to do.. ONE DAY (smiles)

Blast from the past… 5 years ago
Wisconsin Trails Magazine June 2004 has a geocaching article on page 52 for those that wish to see a picture of our board members back then.. (Yawningdog is the only one that didn’t hide behind a cap) My hour and a half ‘interview’ for that article was summed up in one line… still ticks me off to this day.. All it did was focus on my counts.. I guess my babbling of how safe it was for a female soloist to travel around the States feeling safe.. because other geocachers provide great places to go.. didn’t make great headlines..

If you ever see a Yawningdog on the trails realize that he is SOMEONE in the sport… teaming with him at an event (May 17th 2003) was one of my special memories.. So ignore his count and realize how his passion for Adventures and his caches always made a great mentoring tool for those of us that came after him…

    WOW…

yes, my virtuals need to go too they take more time and attentions than do my caches (because I love to chat via emails and read all my mails) The reason my caches were easier on me was because all the geo-friends lent a hand when/if they could to help keep them going.. I just feel so guilty now not able to answer my virtuals.. and most of them are my favorite Historical ones.. so seeing them in the hands of people that knew the reasons why I placed them.. helps me to part with them now.. though I’m having a very long day here..

It’s just killing me to do this but I know it’s for the best for the sport.

Please forgive me if I’m goofing up on who wants what.. I’m bouncing between my email, here and private messages on here and it’s getting confusing..

Just a bit overwhelmed right now.. I didn’t realize that I had to start the adoption processes.. thought those wishing to adopt could start it off.. and I could then just click an “okay”…

Could I please change the request to have anyone interested to please email me at LorrieUSA at aol dot com with their requests and please allow me some time to handle it. I still have over 400 geo-emails to handle first.

This is harder on me than I thought.. so please be patient and thank you so much for your helps once more.
