Special thanks goes to BnB (from Eau Claire area) for donating more children’s prizes
…and a Big thanks to WISearchers for very nice surprise gifts for all.

I wish to thank all those volunteers that came to Sunday’s Temp hunt gathering.. I had a very enjoyable afternoon. Thank you again for all your helps and ideas.
We’ll have such a varity of hunting terrains for the Picnic that everyone will be able to pick and choose what caches they wish to do.. I doubt if ANYONE would be able to find them all (grins)

Oops.. I did email out to the volunteers that we’d meet up at the Picnic lon/lat (GCG8WA) http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=cee095f3-e1ba-4868-a154-31b12fed6f0b
There seemed to be plenty of parking there and if the shelter was in use .. we’d just grab up a few tables nearby. Sorry to have not posted this information here sooner..
Sounds like a fun idea to gather before or after the hides for a meal.. just wanted to hear more feedback from the others about it. I’ll bring some desert/bakery-type stuff to share..

I’ll bring a bunch of diet Mountain Dew

THANK YOU!

If the consensus for the temp hides is to have a picnic at the lake also, I’ll bring fresh sweet corn. Need a head count of how many are expected, Lil Otter?
I don’t know if a ‘picnic’ is in order.. but that sounds fun and yummy (corn).. but most are traveling a good distance and bringing foods might be troublesome for them to do..
What do the others think?I believe that meeting up at the normal lon/lat of the Shelter we will be using for the WGA Picnic will be easy for everyone to find.. there is a huge parking lot there that we could use even if that shelter is tied up. From there we could find a few picnic tables to gather at and chat..

Well (smiles) I’ve only played online AD&D type games since the early 90’s when local Bulletin boards was the only way.. I have currently been the “Immortal of Adventure” (grins) for the last 4 years in a British based-rp game..

oops.. which Saturday.. this one (Aug 2nd) or next(Aug 9th)? (grins)
But either way.. I sure will be there (smiles).. just went out on Monday night with Yawningdog and BruceS.. talked the two into the night hunt (giggles) and would love to watch any and all that will make it this saturday night ..
Come a bit early.. there are several other caches in the area that are close by that could be done before 9pm

Just an update..
I was at Devil’s Lake with Grousetales, Jeremy, Yawningdog and Hotdogs_off_trail. We enjoyed scoping out many great areas for the cache hides as well as have hidden a few already.
Most will be easy terrains with a few hard hike climbs available for those that are daring.
We have 6 cachers coming on the 10th to add their talents into the hide mix. So if you are yet interested in volunteering to hide a cache or two.. please let me know.

(giggles) hey.. I didn’t lose a thing on the trail this year except my 4 NiMh batteries (grins).. I already gave Grousetales a battery charger w/4 recharge AA’s for this event when I was at the campout.. and I am yet trying to be creative and actually build something with my own lil otter hands (grins)

I’m just counting the days til after our Devil’s Lake Picnic so I can get on back up in our woods.. so I’m sure I’ll be up there.. somewhere (grins).. Sept/Oct.. perfect times to be up in the woods. I’m actually hoping to spur on Eau Claire again for another social gather..

(smiles) I’m not that obsessed.. I actually enjoy my gardens and fixing things around the house.. dating.. having company over and entertaining, etc… I have had a geocache within 5 miles of me for more than several months now.. (it’s the first new cache within a 15 mile radius to me in over a year).. Just did it to celebrate the 4th of July..
BUT..
When I do go on my adventures.. I am totally in zone.. I love the fact that I can travel from cache to cache and get the feel of what an area’s like through the eyes of those that place caches. I thrive on learning as I go.. that’s why I am the biggest fan of virtual historicals.. be it a quick stop (driveby) where I just jump out of my van and absorb..(Beast.. your ice cream driveby is a perfect example.. I LOVE ICE CREAM and loved learning about the history) or a long delightful hike that takes hours to complete. Each is a treasure in its own right.
What really drives me is the fact that I can do this on my own.. all these safe spots that other cachers set out. I’ve seen amazing places that just take my breathe away.. I was to a President’s graveyard (a virtual) yet it made one of the most memorable experiences..
If anyone’s ever cached with me they’d know my energy level and excitement for this sport.. and even when I get to a confusing cache etc.. I then try to place myself into the geocacher’s mind.. ‘What is/was so important that they wished to share this area? What memories were here for them?’
SBukowsky’s virtual in Monches is a perfect example.. didn’t understand why I was standing at a telephone pole back then.. until I tried to enter his mind.. why he wanted to share this place. His love of motorcycles and that long stretch of busy hwy .. then it all made sense.. He hoped to bring us into his world and share his love of the open road and his love of cycles.Geocaching to me is not just finding a log book to sign.. but to actually bond with others from this sport.. and share their experiences/memories. That’s the real push for me… to share the beauty of a place that might go unnoticed by the normal eye. That’s what keeps me going because there’s something new around each and every geocache ‘corner’ to discover.
Treasures of learning.. Treasures to find..
To sum it all up:
I think the only thing I neglect is opening my mail.. all my bills are auto-pay.. so that stacks up (grins).. but it is great kindling for my campfires in my back yard.

From the statistics online this is what I think is the top ten for Wisconsin:

(blush) remove one state from my count I was NEVER in CA.. just a typo on a couple of GC####’s and after rechecking my Florida logs I realized the error and corrected it.(just caching up on reading our message board so I’m late in responding) (smiles)

Woo Hoo.. I think I can make this one
Thanks again for setting these up..
~The Lil Otter
Awwww.. sorry about the late ‘congrats’ been out and about (grins) but CONGRATS!!!
That’s sooo romantic.. hard to think that a geocacher could go out of zone like that and actually have a life (giggles)~The Lil Otter
