Sad to say that I won’t be in Wisconsin at that time.. I will be heading on down to Kentucky for the 1st Annual Geo-Woodstock event. GCG03E http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=65643

But have fun and will catch another Mad event (grins)

    Enjoy!

As many of you know, I have been looking for a job the last 9 months and caching has been a great release from the stress. But I do have good news, I found a job right here in town (a 4 minute commute instaed of my previous 90 minute one)and start next week!!! This may slow down my caching a little but now I can eat those expensive value meals for a cache break instead of Cindy’s pbjs.
Thanks to everyone for their support and I hope to keep the cache a day pace going. Thanks to Otter, I can take 3 weeks off and still keep the pace.

(smiles).. I already wrote you privately of congrats when I saw you chose one of mine to make it your 500th.. I’m so glad you got to enjoy my ‘backyard’ would have loved to have joined you on some of your hunts.. should have given me notice that you were comin’ on up (smiles) I would have only slowed you down on one or two with my constant chatter (grins)..

Glad to see that you are now employed.. but don’t be a stranger

They used ‘fanatic’ with you.. my lead in was ‘addictive’ (end paragraph.. start new paragraph).. ‘The Lil Otter’.. when I was in the Orlando FL newspaper.. They totally ignored my words about how safe it is for a single female to now travel.. thanks to other geocachers that guide me to beauitful city/country trails and parks.

A non-geocaching reporter can not ever grasp what is gained by the experiences.. the adventures..

I have not meandered into Minnie/ST Paul yet.. (prefer country caching) I knew last year that they were having conflicts with their parks etc upon placements.. real sad to see so many doors slamming in their faces.

in reply to: Tick removal #1735452

    (smiles)..

We have ticks here and in IL so moving or not moving anywhere isn’t going to help (grins).. Just remember if you grab the thing to jerk it off.. that their mouthpart might be left behind.. THAT just happened last night. I had to take a tweezers and grab on to the ‘hard’ part and really tug.. after I ripped the lil guy off me.. so if you are the type like me.. the “get it off NOW” types.. that this could happen.

Last year I learned a valuable lesson.. not to fear them that much because it costs big bucks to go to the doctor.. I thought I had one in my ear.. kept ‘tickling’ so off I went to the walk-in.. between the new patience charges and the guy asking about my poison ivy.. it cost me 98 dollars.. no tick (grins)..

The higher the DEET only means it lasts longer.. I was lucky to buy about 12 cans of Sportsmen formula REPEL 29%DEET at 3bucks a pop. Used 1 can already this season.

I hate the lil B’s but because of this sport it comes with the territory.. I believe those nightmare stories are because they just thought they were taking a walk in the city park system.. and took no precautions.

in reply to: Your GPSr? #1745374

I have the Meridian.. love the MapSend program.. stores on your computer so you can use it there and look at the monitor screen of the waypoints then easily upload it to your GPSr. Now that mem/storage cards are coming down in price.. I have enough SD cards to put the entire eastern half the US on them.. this program has food/hotel/etc as well as such detailed maps that they show many of the trail systems.. logging roads etc.. Parks and state natural areas seem also highlighted most times. The way I travel this GPS has always worked well for me.. even though I have not read the manual.. I was off and running within minutes after purchase. This is a replacement because my other one got soaked.. so don’t depend on it being that waterproof.. it does float but perhaps I had a defective first one (grins)
Big plus it only needs two AA batteries and I have the rechargable ones.. (8 in total) so I am set to go for days without backups.. also it has a cool plug and mounting hardware for the dash of your car that then plugs into the cig lighter socket..

Only thing I still need for my unit is a neck band type thing so I don’t always have to hold it (grins)

One final note: MapSend will only allow four 15 MB or less Region uploads to the SD disks.. so buying any card over 64MB is a waste of space. I also have a mini disk reader that cuts the map transfers down quite a bit.

    Hope this makes sense (grins)

Hands down.. Devil’s Lake Revisited was a tough one.. hot, baking boulders.. 4 hrs of hunting in rattlesnake territory.. a climb that would take the breathe out of even a non-smoker (grins).. and a view that took your breathe away anyways..

in reply to: In the News…. #1745233

Wish he’d have quoted me properly.. but he’s a guy and did fix on the numbers. (grins).. I tried explaining to him how safe it was for me to go solo thanks to other geocachers setting up caches in safe spots that cater to families (smiles) ..

Also the reason I didn’t give him my full name is because of online safety.. anyone then could go to the caching site and note my home location.. instantly finding my address..

Told him as well that I am glad for geocaching because I’d have been just sitting on the beach like last Florida vacation (grins)..

    Men.. go figure (smiles)

But all in all.. I was the perfect lead in after his words ‘addictive’ (grins)
