Yeah, send it to Garmin if you want it fixed. Odds are, they will send you a completely different refurbished unit back.
If they send me a rehab unit, will it still contain all of my saved info???
When caching in the Burlington area a stop for “The Worlds Best Burger” at FRED’S PARKVIEW INN is always a treat… The atmosphere is very casual, it’s seat yourself when a table opens up and you have to place your order at the bar with your table number… Even though it’s a pub & grill, it’s very child friendly, I’ve been bringing my son there for a birthday burger since he was 8 tears old, he’s 23 now… A trip to Fred’s is not complete without an order of their home made chips…

W 087 50.117I’m not sure how the medical world would view this, but I’ve used ether soaked cotton balls to remove embedded ticks… You can get ether in the form of automobile starting fluid, just be sure to stay completely away from any source of flame or heat until the ether is completlely evaporated… It is also important to do this out of doors with adequate fresh air as ether is a very potent soporific… Also, don’t do this before driving or operating machinery, in other words, use common sense… Wait we’re geocachers, do we have common sense???
A “Leatherman” style multi-tool is a very handy thing to bring along… Also, spare Zip-Locs, spare logs, a small roll of camo duct tape, and a black “Sharpie”, for cache/container repairs…
This is in response to David Cantrell’s post regarding deleting a log of someone that didin’t follow the cache description guidelines… The only log that I ever deleted was that of a newbie, who in their eagerness for their 1st FTF went to one of my WSQs at 04:30 when official dawn was 06:20… Deleting a 1st FTF wasn’t easy thing to do, but in their log, the cacher stated that he was ignoring my request that the search was to be made during daylight hours only… In fact had he searched during the daylight, he would have seen the sign stating that anyone found in the cemetery after dark would be prosecuted… Not following the rules/guidelines is what will really kill the game… You did the right thing…
If a cache is meant to be an easy find I’ll say something like “Thanks for the quick smiley”, that about says it all…
05/10/2011 at 9:17 pm in reply to: What do you do if you find a cache that is … Cache rituals #1948086During WWII when British fighter pilots would spot enemy planes they would call out “Tally Ho! I see the bloody Huns” to let the others in their squadron know where the enemy was… If I spot the cache first when I’m caching with others, being a pilot myself, I call out “Tally Ho! I’ve got the bloody cache”…
Having been in the wastewater treatment business for 12 years, I am pretty sure that this commercial farm has a DNR discharge permit… The lagoon is a type of treatment process that isn’t uncommon for agricultural waste… It seems however that it is over loading for some reason, either because of too much waste or too much rainfall… If this farm does have a DNR issued discharge permit, the treated wastewater is required to be sampled and tested to ensure that the permit limits are not exceeded… I agree with most of the posts here that the DNR should be notified ASAP as it could take considerable time for them to notice this on their own…
Try looking up Fellow Mortals, they’re out near Lake Geneva… Or you could try River Bend Nature Center in Racine…
You may want to try trailville.com… Not sure that is what you’re looking for though…
The kids don’t really NEED to eat, do they???
In this case i.D.ing the container as a geocache may not have helped… The guy seemed to have been convinced that he was a contest winner and nothing would dissuade him of that misconception… But I agree that caches, especially those that could be prone to muggling or Bomb Squad abuse, would be better off being labeled…
