Borrowed a yellow E-Trex for my first find, then bought a Legend… May be upgrading to Garmin 60 soon…

There is a cache (GCZRKJ) {I’m not good @ linking so just look it up @ gc.com} in Kenosha located less than 300′ from an abandoned pumping station formerly used by the American Brass Co. The pumping station which is located on the shore of Lake Michigan, supplied the 100+ year old, 24 square city block sized foundry located in the heart of Kenosha, with process water… The main plant was razed from about 2002 to 2004… The Kenosha Water Utility absorbed the pump station property and is in the final abandonment stages prior to the demolition of the structure… As an employee of the Kenosha Water Utility I’ve been able to see the inside of the structure, and while it has been unused and in disrepair for many years, the 1920’s Frankenstein technology was cool to see… Check it out before it’s gone… The cache is located on a dead end street with private property on both sides, enjoy the view…

We have several of these units where I work, and I also own a pair myself… I use the “low power, no license required mode” for my personal units, which seems to suit my needs… However; the high power channels do require an FCC license, which is AT NO COST TO THE USER, (how’d that happen)??? The biggest problem when applying for a license is trying to decipher all of the FCC muckity muck language on the application… Yeah, “Big Brother” wins again…

    Cache On!!!!!!!!!!

My momma told me that ya never talk about 3 things in polite company: Politics, religion and sex.

With this fascinating thread, and the one elsewhere on religion, I can only figure that someone’s’ gonna want to talk about sex pretty soon.

That is why I keep hitting the “refresh” button on my browser.

Great!!! All of this debate about global warming, and you want to make things hotter by bringing sex into the mix!!! Great!!! Just Flippin’ Great!!! lol…

in reply to: Enough with the micro caches! Am I right, folks? #1892129

I guess it depends on my mood… Sometimes I’m feeling sinister and I’ll go after urban micros, or micros in muggle prone woods (I own one like that)… Sometimes I’m fed up with urban life and go for ammo cans deep in the woods… That’s what’s it’s all about, having fun… Swag swap??? Sometimes… Usually, it’s TNLNSL TFTC, unless there’s a trackable that I can help along… With all of the mosquitoes about lately, it’s been hard enough to sign the log anyway, much less trade swag…
For me it’s about the experience of getting out and being brought to someplace unique, or solving a mystery or a multi or trying to complete a series, not the contents of the container…

    Greg…

    p.s.
The last two caches that I placed did have a $1.00 “FTF BUCK” in them… I figure with gas prices what they are, it was the least I could do…

they added a mapping feature also. Looks decent enough but it only goes from home cords to cache. I figure since i dont want to come home between each cache I will keep using my Nuvi and listening to “recalculating”

I checked the route to my recently placed cache (GC1DP70) in The Gander Mtn. Forest Preserve just south of Wilmot Wi., it displayed what would not be my preferred route…. Also when viewing the satellite image of the route, it ends up in the driveway of a very expensive looking home just north of Il. Rte. 173… 😳 …

Awww Geeezz!!! You responded while you’re on the clock… Now I’m a bigger idiot…

in reply to: Why do some feel the need to hate????? #1892062

I’ve read… I’ve posted… I’ve thought about the the total waste of caching time for all of us, because we felt that we had to respond to somebody that didn’t like a simple, innocent log entry… Think of the missed FTF’s… The missed TB’s & Coins… Was it worth it??? HELL NO!!!… When you respond to idiots… You only empower them… Please don’t respond to this, I’m a big enough idiot the way it is, I’ve bought stock in “Deep Woods OFF”, ’nuff said…

    God Bless Geocaching… 😉

in reply to: New WGA Logo Referendum Results #1892225

I’m a n00b to WGA , so don’t take me too seriously; but I think that Cheesehead Dave’s logo with the Wi. State outline filled in with the 4 color scheme of Tyedyeskycrew’s logo would be awesome… Maybe the “G” WGA could be in the same 4 color geocache scheme, it’s symmetrical enough…

    Sorry for the late post…

in reply to: Why do some feel the need to hate????? #1892025

W.T.F.???? I thought that geocaching was supposed to be FUN????!!!…

Not a “Soap Box” for a Political or Religious debate… We all have our own beliefs, and we live by them as we believe what is right… If things have gotten so bad for some of you people that you feel compelled to interject your personal hatred into a simple hobbyist web site, maybe it’s time for you to take a step back and take a look at your lives???… Huh???…
Doh!!!!! We’re all a bunch of knuckleheads using a multi-bajillion $dollar military satellite system to find ammo cans, film cannisters, tupperware, and who knows what else, placed who knows where, by who knows who, just for the fun of it… Can we just keep it that way????????????

    !!!!!!!!!!!STOP ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!
