It’s too bad people can’t take care of what they put out there. Going through the reviewers is the best way to go in my opinion.
I didn’t include our $25 for the park pass. Does that money stay in the county or go to the state?
Like which caches? Are any of them in the Cache Rescue list?
Around 200, give or take. Any location we use would have to have parking, grills and picnic tables, and restroom facilities for that many people. Waukesha would be nice for those of us here in SE WI, but we should aim for something more central for those who live further away.
I should have asked you to PM your suggestions to a board member instead of posting them here. Sorry.
The picnic committee is hard at work at finding a suitable location.
(If you have any suggestions besides the state parks, we’d love to hear them.)
We probably spent more than most people since we stayed at the Best Western. Throw in a supper on Saturday and gas for the trip home and it adds up fast.
The Garmin GPSMap 60csx has the Proximity alarms feature too. I just checked it out and will remember to use it the next time I place a cache.
Thanks for the idea!
Here’s an online rental place. You can rent a Garmin eTrex for $25 for 3 days.

Have you tried any of the area Park&Rec Departments, or schools?
Too bad Auntie Nae’s beginner workshop for this Thursday was cancelled. And the Schlitz Audobon Nature Center doesn’t have any workshops coming up soon either.
You could check out Fox 6’s web site. Vince Condella has some videos of his caching stories in the Weather section.
Geocaching for Dummies and Complete Idiot’s Guide to Geocaching are both decent books for beginners. (Milwaukee County Federated Library System has both books.)
I saw it too. But with gas over $3/gallon, it’s too far to go right now.
In the past, he made the announcement of new caches on Thursday nights at 9:45, although since he’s been listing them on gc.com, sometimes you can get it before the announcement.
I guess watch tomorrow night!
Not only the North woods, but here in SE Wisconsin too (Milwaukee area). I pulled a wood tick out of my son’s ear yesterday.
Is the committee going to work through the night to pick the winner?
I purposely scheduled the CITO Oak Creek event for the morning so it wouldn’t overlap with the Waukesha event in the afternoon. People can go to both if they like. We are!
