Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t the default maps on the delorme’s better than even the purchasable ones on other brands?
based on what i have seen i would have to say yes, and for 30$ a year you can get the map library which looks amazing.
I can see myself using the aerial photos out caching, but i have a car gps for driving so i dont use the road ones all that often. Mostly the topo is what i use now, and I found the gpsfiledepot free topo was better than garmins on my current gps.
Congrats on #6800! 😀
I have an Etrex Vista HCX and it does all the things you are looking for except paperless, it works great has the high sensitivty reciever, color, maps, takes a memory card, but I can’t recommend it to anyone because of 1 major flaw, the rubber gasketringseal thing around the outside of it. Left mine in my car this summer, came out and it had deformed and I do not believe it is water proof any longer. Great unit, but if you forget like I do, you may have the same issue.
Congrats on a big milestone!
I don’t know if I qualify as a new cacher, but I would be new to the cache ba$h and think it would be great to be teamed up with someone who has done it before or is atleast familiar with the area.
I never was able to find out who the right land mananger for my caches was, when I called they just said send it to our office and we will get it to the right person. So I just sent the form into the local office and a few days later they come back signed. So I dont think you need to actually know who it needs to go to, as long as you get it to the right office.
Depending on when the attempt is, I would be interested in going.
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that gave suggestions and directions and helpful hints, about 5 hours of bike riding #500 milestone, 64 smileys and a handful of frowns, I had a blast.
You guys got some serious trees with 2 inch spikes coming out of them up there, what the heck are those things called? got one about half way thru the hand hehe. Guess that goes to show watch what your doing.
I will be back to do some more caching, lots more for me to find!
Congrats!
Bison tubes in pine trees light up like candles at night with a good flashlight, if they dont put camo tape ove them.
