Barton Day is on Saturday the 10th from 10a.m. – 5 p.m. Music, vendors, food, etc. Might make it tricky to be stealthy at the Barton Roller Mill cache.

Hmm, my first response seems to be blank. Let’s try again.

(GT)= Approved GeoTour Restaurant to earn points towards a Geocoin

Yes, some local good eats are Dublins (GT), Riverside Brewery (GT), Poplar Inn, Cafe Soeurette, West Bend Tap & Tavern (GT), Benders (GT), Ninja Japanese Steakhouse, and Grasshopper (breakfast and lunch). The food is really outstanding at all of these places, although some are on the pricier side.

Some geocachers have discovered The Braising Pan, a German-American restaurant very near Regner Park. Ja, you can get Schnitzel and Sauerbraten and Rinderrouladen and Beer-Battered Brat Bites (as well as classic American dishes). The portions are very generous and it’s a fun place to try food you can’t get anywhere else. http://braisingpanwestbend.com/our-menu/

For Italian lovers, try Michaleno’s Pizzeria. They have a very large reasonably-priced menu (and they also deliver). http://www.michalenos.com/menu.html A couple other good places for pizza include Sal’s Pizzeria downtown and Maricio’s in Barton.

A new Mexican restaurant/bar just opened downtown called Casa Tequila, but I haven’t had a chance to try it out yet. The menu looks yummy though.

For a classic family restaurant with reasonable prices and large portions, Omnicron will fit the bill.

For chain restaurants, The Charcoal Grill just opened and they have yummy burgers. Of course, there’s always Applebees and Texas Roadhouse (GT), and Buffalo Wild Wings (GT).

I hope that helps. So many choices!!

Yes, I also like Dublins (*Geotour), West Bend Tap & Tavern (*GeoTour), Riverside Brewery (*GeoTour), Cafe Soeurette, and Grasshopper (breakfast/lunch place). Most of those are in the same price category, but the quality is really excellent.

LDove, I like your Lucky Seven idea. Or how about a “Magnificent Seven” Western theme? You could have a lot of fun with the cowboy/bandits theme.

    Oooh, a food post!

    Superbowl Sunday.

    2011: Cheesy Chicken Quesadillas
    2012: BBQ Baby Back Ribs

2013: I was thinking about making a homemade pizza with homemade dough. I got a pizza stone for Christmas that I want to use. I need to buy a pizza peel to make it the true experience.

I wondered about attempting to give a nod to each team in some way, but Baltimore doesn’t really inspire me. At least with San Francisco, I could make soughdough bread crust for the pizza or something. What is Baltimore famous for? According to a google search, it seems like the answer is crab, perhaps with Old Bay seasoning. So perhaps I will make a crab pizza with a sourdough crust. I don’t know. It’s an option…

    We’ll see. I’m still researching the possibilities…

in reply to: Water Caches? #1962685

There may be one cache that requires some sort of boat or floatable… maybe. With the summer drought, a lot of the streams are totally dry. It’s not my cache so I don’t know where it is or how necessary a boat is.

(In my humble opinion, I am guessing some of the terrain ratings are way over-rated.)

But otherwise, no water caches this year. Expect lots of hiking.

in reply to: 5 Year Prize? #1962690

Yes, the West Bend Cache Ba$h will be giving a 5-year commemorative car window cling to teams that have attended all 5 years. (no, it’s not trackable)

I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to ask by a show of hands how many teams got all 66 caches. I can bring it up to the director.

I just published a new Wherigo in Regner Park… Nobody has done it yet, though, so I hope there are no issues this weekend. GC3N3X2

I would think that the decision to provide online sales would depend, in part, whether a board member is willing to take charge and volunteer a large amount of personal time in setting it up, obtaining the necessary supplies, and then organizing and mailing out the orders. It’s a great way to reach members across the state who are unable or uninterested in attending a specific event and you’d sell a lot more, but it is probably a lot more work than we think. Mailing it out to one person is no burden, but a couple hundred orders would get tedious I imagine.

Okay, I apologize in advance. I have zero artistic ability… I would need somebody to help me out with a better computerized version. But here is my idea anyway… A GPSr-shaped coin with our Wisconsin logo as the screen.
