But unless they get registered on GC those numbers from the chamber do not matter correct?
Correct. They’re contacting the 100 or so people that signed up through that site and urging them to sign up on geocaching.com and log a will attend. 😕
The grab bag is the top 250 TEAMS, so you’re still safe. For MEGA status, we need 500 PEOPLE. And yes, it is currently just over 400 people from the Will Attend logs. I’m not sure how many are registered through the chamber, so the number might be higher.
Awesome! Just an FYI for the non-campers: If anyone wanted to stay at Isadora’s Bed & Breakfast, they will give you a discount if you mention you are a geocacher (that’s any time of year!)
I just had a nice chat with the owner of Isadora’s Bed and Breakfast in West Bend, and if you mention that you are a geocacher, they will give you a 10% discount– any time of year. It is a really beautiful historic home, but I haven’t personally stayed there to give a full review.

I sent a Private Message with a hint as soon as I returned from vacation (4/30/09 according to the sent box). Did you not receive it? 🙁 I’m more than willing to give a letter hint to anyone who asks. Caches are meant to be found.
Sincerely,
AnneP.S. What’s the difference between the Sent Box and the Outbox on the WGA Private Message center?
Hi kmhiker,
Great caching name for the Kettle Moraine area! Based on your profile information, I’m going to guess you like… labs? 🙂
I’m also from West Bend. If you ever need any information or cache help, feel free to contact me.

Okay, so here’s the “official” word:
After combining the Geocaching.com “Will Attends” and the registrations that are coming in through the West Bend Chamber site, we’re at 400 people so far.
congrats!

Congrats…Got to admit PharmGirl has a way with words on this one
He should have climbed a tree or something while at the Park and then I could have said he hit the Bong and got high for his milestone. Maybe next time.

I see that this event has 116 “will attend” logs. Does anyone have the offical count of people…or how close it is to becoming a MEGA event?
Thanks
We are still hovering a little over 300 participants right now. We have a meeting with the Chamber on Tuesday, and I’m sure we’ll get an “official” update at that time. 😀

They called Washington County the “Midwest Geocaching Capitol of the World”. Any particular reason? Cache density maybe?…
Yep, cache density is one reason. 500 within a 7-mile radius or something close. The West Bend Chamber of Commerce director is a wise fellow who realizes the tourism potential of geocaching. He actually got the “Geocaching Capital of the Midwest” phrase to be an official trademark for our city. 😀
I’m excited that the word is getting out there for our Cache Ba$h! 😀
Looks like I have to work that weekend. 🙁 🙁 🙁
Hope somebody else can have a lot of fun in my place. It was a blast last year.
