It seems like the longer the LCG goes on the more it loses focus on why it was ever implemented. There are no winners in geocaching. If you want to win take up golf or bowling.

Never mind. Here it is. GC1NZNF

Not to change the subject slightly, but is there a challenge where one must find a cache in each city of Wisconsin that begins with each letter of the alphabet? Such as Abrams, Brillion, Cassville, etc?

I would like to do this one.

We are on a little caching trip this weekend, the first in over two months. We did enjoy a snowshoeing event the beginning of March, but have otherwise pretty much sat out caching since Birdin’ suffered a broken arm…while caching.

That, combined with the utter realization that we aren’t getting any younger, has had us taking a bit more cautious approach. We passed on one of several tree climbs today. Right now, I just can’t. Trekkin’ took a look and decided his legs were too short, and he could maybe get up there, but we just didn’t need that smiley enough to risk another broken bone. Call us wimps if you like. We prefer to think of it as playing smart for the long haul.

Don’t feel bad. I’m 46. In decent shape. And I passed on a tree cache on the Yellow Brick Road series because I was not about to risk a fall even though all I had to do was climb up a log leaning against the tree.

I will not attempt anything that puts me at risk even if it seems easy.

Why stop there? Get Beer scented air fresheners 😆

Anything can happen. It’s always a good idea to be prepared. Also look at other caches on the route as a backup if you run across DNF’s. I’ve had to do this when I would get specific caches on a route to set up a milestone. I had a few DNF’s which forced me to take a slight detour on the way to the milestone cache.

    That can work. Thanks.

According to Kindle, I’m 60% through it and I still have a ways to go.

I’m really into it and love it. Wish there were more books like this that refers to geocaching.

I’ll give more of my feedback when I’m done with it.

Too bad the WGA site doesn’t use SPOILER tags like other forums do so I can put down my thoughts without spoiling it for everyone.

Can you look into this, TBC?

Sounds like you really are being prepared.

Wish I had half the preparation skills that you do when I go out caching.

I’m not one to go out and hunt specific caches for a challenge or anything like that. I just load my GPSr’s and just go where they take me. I’m the spontaneous type.

But back in the day before I had my Nuvi to help me drive to cache sites, I used to have to map out my caches. I would make a list of what to hit, note the approximate locations on a paper map, and go get them.

Now I just grab the Nuvi, Etrex, and go.

    You guys are insane, lol.

I’m looking forward to hearing about the adventure when it does happen.

I thought Waukesha and Milwaukee Counties also require fees.

in reply to: Moving Trackables Thread #1961601

Yeah I noticed the owner has not logged in for about a year. He did not even e-mail me once to move it.

I guess I’ll keep it in my collection for now until I hit the trails again.

    Thanks for the update, Rat.

I have a geocoin that I had held, then lost, for 3 years. I found it today while spring cleaning.

Can anyone move it for me if I mail it to them? I’ll mail at my expense of course. I have no idea when I’ll hit the trails again.

    Thanks.

Disable it and put a note on the logs and page saying it is out of season and will be back later. The reviewer won’t do anything so as long as you post an update now and then to show you are still active.

Edit: I had to do this when I found out there would be construction at a cache site of mine. The construction was supposed to last 6 months, so I initially disabled it and posted periodic updates, then I found out the construction would take longer. I made the decision to archive then.
