Got two logs from two cachers that said the cache was found but didn’t have a pen to sign log?
How hard can it be to walk back to your car, get a pen, and go back to sign the log.
I would let this go except the same log was written at other local caches too.
Hmmm.. to delete or not to delete.
I dislike PNG’s in front of someone’s house – especially if that someone has no idea about geocaching. Got shooed away by a homeowner once. I never went back.
PNG’s are great for people who can’t walk far.
Though I agree not every lamp post skirt, guardrail or signposts need a cache. If one is gonna put out a PNG, make it a reason why. Is there a historical marker nearby? Is there a nice sculpture nearby?
I have a few P & G’s with 3 of them at a local scenic park and one at a boat launch playing on the story of an archived cache that was an ALR.
Edit: This is the boat launch cache I was referring to – GC2T7JY . It is just a simple film can hide, but as you can see from the logs, I had some nice comments on it as the hide was somewhat creative for a film can hide.
Here you go, Gotta Run

I actually filter out caches by certain owners in Green Bay, Appleton and the rest of the Fox Valley. I won’t mention their names but they do have a habit of either crappy hides or non maintained hides. I’ll do the same when I visit Lax.
I love visiting creative caches with my favorites being those owned by 2277 in Marquette, MI. He’s awesome with creative hides.
I’m more into quality, not quantity. Hence my low numbers (just 997 finds in 3 years). I would rather walk 5 miles in the woods for 2 or 3 caches than hit a power trail of 100 caches.
You’re right. I do need to filter certain caches. I still have to work things out with the friend on the best weekend to visit her then go from there.
Thanks.
I’m supposed to go to La Crosse this spring to visit a muggle friend. I was gonna bring my GPS to do a little caching on the side.
Now, reading about all this, I probably won’t go to Lax. My friend did say she was gonna come up to my area to visit her family in the summer so I’ll see her then.
It’s a shame that a CO lets his caches go to waste on purpose just to see DNF logs.
“There’s the cache. Next time get extra batteries for your GPS, ok?”
I gotta get boots myself for hard gravel areas such as next to railroad tracks…not fun feeling the rocks under my feet with my regular shoes.
Actually, I think the local reviewers should enforce those rules. If you see a cache that does not comply with the rules, bring it up with the local reviewer and he’ll do something about it. If not, oh well.
On the other hand, I could start a list – you know you lost your addiction to geocaching when:
You drive past a signpost cache that you could not get previously due to the micro being frozen to its post.
I drove past a signpost today that had a micro frozen to the post the last time I attempted it back in January. Today it was nice and warm in Green Bay and I drove by that exact post. I looked at it as I drove by and didn’t even bother to stop.
One of these days, I’ll get the geocaching bug again and I’ll be back out on the trails. Just not anytime soon, I guess, despite the nice weather.
If you plan on reading a Huffin Puffin log, be sure to set aside time to do so 😛
They do write nice logs.
Heh. I won’t even know it’s there. My notifications are off – lol.
Sorry, Barry. I won’t be going after all. No time, interest, or money.
