Lordy be, we’re not going to end up with “no finds for October!”  Decided to head to Decorah in a bit to do the ones we’d planned for EC Day but skipped that because…lousy rotten weather, not fun.  We think we will also check out one of the craft breweries while we’re there, since our PQ is teensy.  Enjoy this beautiful day!

No, we will log these honestly, with today’s date.  Don’t need a souvenir that bad!

Yeah, it’s not anything like it used to be in here. Sigh. I took advantage of a sale to order the little metal plate to register our Little Free Library. Now I just have to build the darn thing. 😀

Ooooh, build in a secret cache compartment.

Planning on it. I’m not sure how we’ll do it, but I’ve had experience with a lot of neat ones.  I guess a lot will depend on how exactly I build it…when I do.  At this point, it might not be out there till spring.

In other news, we’re playing Catan with Poohs Pal and his parents one more time tonight before they move west.  I need a “happy/sad” emoji here.

BigJim, you’re having a busy year…family-wise. Good luck with the packing.

Busy, nice way to put it. We use a different word.

That’s draining.  We’ve done that twice in the last year ourselves, Jim.  In other news, actually related to packing….we were just at a little send-off party for Poohs Pal and his parents.  As soon as he finishes trick or treating with his cousin on Halloween, he gets in the car and they’re moving to Colorado Springs.  Excited for them, but it’s sure going to be different around here.  I see adding many finds to the “Colorado” map in our future!

We aren’t far from page 1100, folks.  Get to work!

We have “wintry mix” with brisk winds on tap here.  Not going EarthCaching.  That is one souvenir we like to try and earn, because we have an affinity for that cache type, but today’s weather is not my idea of outdoors fun, no matter how properly we’re dressed.

We wear glasses.  That’s my reasoning!

There’s an EC in Decorah and we were thinking of doing that tomorrow, but Trekkin’s bum knee is bothering him, so it’s likely to be another souvenir we just ignore.  That happens more and more these days for us!

Debby, What the heck did you do????

Yes, time to solve puzzles.  The weather’s nasty anyway.

I’m super excited about the oldest caches per county list! What do you all think about having a pathtag made for those who complete the list? On the downside today, I got hit with a migraine this morning and then one of my filling fell out 😕 it’s been a long morning. Thankfully, the dentist can get me in at 12:10. No caramel apples for this girl anytime soon!

Oh, you so have my sympathy.  I have managed to avoid migraines the past couple years, but missing the Billy Joel concert because of the migraine of the millennium was not a happy moment for me.

Migraines suck.  I avoid red wine…which is what triggered that one before the Billy Joel concert.  And I like red wine.  It’s supposed to be good for you, even.  Just not good for me.  Hopefully your head is better now.

I just discovered the new “oldest in the counties” info….thanks for putting that together!  I had an old one with quite a few that were archived over time, and it wasn’t always easy to figure out which was the oldest one now.  We’ve got about 2/3 of them and keep putting them on our lists whenever we get a chance to head one direction or another.  Sometimes…we even managed to stop and look for them, LOL

We completed an alphanumeric nontraditional challenge ages ago.  Neither of these are near sandland, but they aren’t way out there, either, if you find yourself heading either direction.

I know, but we’re traveled out for now.  I’d like to do a trip there in the spring.  I did visit the Auto Tour Loop ages ago in late fall and that was fun, plus we did some hiking in the winter during a LCG event held there.  Wow, that was a long time back!

It seemed like there was some kind of open shelter when we were there last and it looked like things were being set up to add in.  On the other side, by the IAT, it’s still undeveloped as far as I know.  Maybe I’m misremembering, though.  I do know there was more stuff there than my first visit, though.

I just looked and we haven’t found that one.  In fact, it looks like it’s been a pretty long time since we’ve cached over that way at all.  I’m adding it to my “caches of interest” list, but like I said…..we’re into Slow Caching and mostly just do vacation caching these days.  Still….one never knows!

Looking at the list, I can say we’ve visited every one of those at least once.  I really like Straight Lake, which we’ve visited two or three times.  My first visit, it was pretty undeveloped, but I see things are being added now.  I kind of wish they’d keep it pretty much wild, to be honest.  It’s nice to have at least one state owned place like that in any given state.

A friend is on the board for Friends of Wi State Parks.  He does a program on his own adventures visiting every single state property in a year’s time.  We took a little longer than Jonathan, but then again….we’re older even than his mom and dad!  Slow Caching is where it’s at, LOL
