We had brief mayhem here earlier tonight, but the presents are open and gone, along with their people.
Poohs Pal’s daddy’s friend made me a really nice neck scarf and both of us a really cool little Xmas tree, upcycled from an old dictionary! Handmade gifts are the best.
Gotta finish packing…we’re taking a couple days to hike our butts off at Willow River. One of four state parks we’ve never visited before.
Don’t know if this means anything to anyone here, but tonight at yoga….I NAILED “CROW!” For me, that’s huge.
We’re actually celebrating Christmas on NYE. Last week wasn’t our son’s week with his daughter, so we just waited for this week!
Seems like I keep forgetting their caching name but she’s connected with Horicon…..they just did that hot tub thing, too, to make room for the new baby that’s coming. Have fun.
Sounds like Great Horned…though you have some others out there I wouldn’t know.
Oh bummer. I think it’s been pretty reliable. Photos I’ve seen show it near a power box or something like that. Not the most photogenic setting, but you take what you can.
Apparently one was rescued near Westby the other day with a broken wing. A rehabber is caring for it now and it should be fine. If anyone is looking at these owls, please keep your distance and don’t flush them for the “perfect” shot. They are wild creatures and should be seen as such. Every winter, this stuff rears its ugly head and tempers on the bird pages start to flare.
I knew exactly which cache BJ meant. We saw it and were so glad Trekkin’ has been freed of his FTF disease. 😉
BTW, if any of you has a Northern Saw Whet Owl hanging around where you live or own caches, I would love to know about it. That’s the last owl for Wisconsin I need to spot. Can you say nemesis bird????? I’ve seen three Boreal Owls, but never a Saw Whet!
So BBG, Did you find the Snowy? That one sounds like it’s been pretty reliable. We haven’t taken any road trips for them so far this year, but there are a lot more nearly white ones and I’d like to see one of those. There is also a Northern Hawk Owl that apparently has been pretty reliable in southwest Eau Claire.
We had a pair of Great Horned Owls duetting in the neighborhood last night. One might have been back in our pine trees for awhile. Wonderful to hear. Tis the season.
My first time assisting in yoga today. Hope it goes well.
Happy Birthday to the blue cupcake ladies!
Maybe those slimmies are not seen out there?
We had a visit for awhile with one of our sons and his girlfriend. They left to make the rounds and will be back for supper and “Scrooged.” At least that’s the plan.
And……THE SUN CAME OUT! AND STAYED! THERE WAS A SUNSET! It’s a Christmas miracle!
We almost met our goal, which w as to have no more finds than in our second full year of caching. We did cut our finds by almost half of last year’s, which was almost half of the year before.
Northwoods Tom does not believe me, but we truly have cut way back on this stuff.
Oh shoot..and we were just talking about a road trip that would take us through Kansas, Oklahoma and the Lone Star state.
