Thanks for sharing that. We started in 2006 and neither of those were options for new caches then. We missed it by about a year.
Trekkin’ was antsy to get out this afternoon so we went and found a local cache. I retrieved a TB which has been traveling around since 2007, one year after we officially started playing this game. Nice to see that sometimes still happens!

Interesting idea, but to tell you the truth…except for our aunt and uncle from Sandland, we feel mosly like Uncle Carbuncle in the children’s books, “The Stupids Step Out.” Anyone familiar with the books will understand and that’s all I’m saying about that 🙄

We stopped releasing TBs ourselves long ago, but then again, there are those stories of someone finding one that’s been “missing” for years. We picked up two in Brunet Island (different caches, too) that weren’t in the inventory, and hadn’t been logged for over two years. One of our coins resurfaced some time back, but seems to have gone underground….again.
Mrs. sandlanders and I stopped to visit the Green Bay one on our way up to Door County. We had fun with that one!
He was….different! 😕

“Hey… Ckayda? I’ve seen your name in the WGA forums! Great to meet you in person!” … That will happen more than you think. Wink
We can say we met her before she showed up here, sharing a really challenging and interesting cache hunt!

I know my “issue” is the extra step of organizing the folders. They go on my computer by date uploaded and never move past that point. I think if I ‘d developed a system when I went digital, I’d be in better shape. Now it’s just too overwhelming; I should at least try to move from here forward. Most often, if I’m trying to locate some photo, I’m cross checking other record keeping to figure out…when did I take that photo? Bird checklists, geocache logs, family events.
Organization is not my thing, I’m afraid. I like to see broad strokes, not little details. Those are Trekkin’s specialty.
Not…a single one. They were making my life difficult. Tree cover and nothing but chip calls. Little stinkers!
To reply to Cykada’s point….that is so much the truth! I have this annoying love/hate relationship with social media, to the point I tried to get out of it completely last fall. Turns out you really can’t. Anyway….I do enjoy seeing people’s photos of various significant events, cool nature sightings and that kind of thing. I’m not sure why I need to see hundreds of basically the same thing, but I suspect that’s partly due to the way the phones handle this stuff. I still use an actual camera, so that helps me be a bit more critical about what I do post. I can’t just snap and send with it. Plus, it was all those early years of photography training at the hand of my discerning father that has me still being pretty critical of what I choose to share.
Since I was getting not much accomplished, I went and added my photos to cache logs from the weekend. In my gallery, it says we have 2298 images. Sadly in recent years, most of those are probably screen shots to qualify for some goofy challenge or other.
I am going to try to be a bit better about this now.
