Looks like our house. Seriously…only we have done a better job of upkeep. I’m sure we’ve seen it, but it doesn’t jump out at me.
must be an inside joke, but I must admit….I was a French horn player. Known to have opinions. But it’s my right wing that’s broken, LOL so not I (in honor of National Grammar Day).
Nope, I kind of figured that would be the case. I didn’t send any of my Pileated photos cause they weren’t up to my standards. While there were some cool ones included of that one, most weren’t up to my standards, either.
The nest hole ones are really neat. I have been trying to locate such a spot for years. I know generally where a pair nests but they are way too elusive to lead me to it.
becca, thanks for taking this on, it will be a nice component of wga membership. i’m not sure exactly how i’d present this, but for many of us, a huge part of our enjoyment comes from non-caching things we discover when we’re out. for me, bird sightings are cool, but flowers, other animals, chance encounters with interesting characters, you name it. could some sort of reader column be done to highlight this? i could try and do something of this type.
that’s so awesome, you guys! congrats!
thanks for the reassurances…i can run it by trekkin when he gets back from hanging with his history friends.
so far, i’ve stayed with the v. 7 of gsak. however, there are some macros that only run on 8. my questions..if i upgrade, will my current find data and installed macros remain intact? or will i be starting from scratch? i have faced that rebuilding one other time and it was not my idea of fun. thanks
i visited all but the last two falls in grandpa r’s post on marinette county last fall. colors were peak. i also did the hike to lasalle falls, might be florence county. highly recommend a trip like that. one of the photos of fall colors that shows up on the wga home page was taken on that trip.
watch out, mr. g. this thing will heal, the pt will make my arm stronger than ever, then…..who knows?
consider yourselves lucky you get punctuation and word spacing 🙄
there was a really nice looking county park up near mountain…goodman, maybe? waterfalls, trails, nice looking campground.
its interesting to see the different opinions. weve probably visited about 2/3 of the parks, and it seems like we enjoy whatever we dont commonly experience around here, so the lakefront parks like those in door county or kohler andrae get our attention. i agree about the county parks, too. coon forks is nice. eau claire dells east of wausau is also pretty cool. the state forests also have units with camping and various attractions, like black river state forest or the various kettle moraine units.
all i can say is…weve done all counties. we did both delormes two separate times, and we still discover more wonderful places in the state.
i finished the book this morning and did a short review on amazon. fun read, even if you weren’t a cacher, but more if you are. one of the places mentioned is where the original fizzy is located. i also have to wonder if one of the minor characters was modeled after kablooey, the guy with the years long streak. he’s in that caching community. we spent time caching with him in yosemite, and it kind of fits. thanks for pointing this one out, brian…exactly what this sudden couch potato needed!
A little late to the party, but congratulations. That is a really fun cache, too.
Each park has its own personality, so it depends on what you’d like to see. Peninsula is the popular one, and they have a great bike trail, the Sunset Trail, along with a nice swimming beach for the kids. Whitefish Dunes has….the dunes, some neat trails that bring you to varied habitat. Potowatomi is where we camped with our kids, and there are some wonderful trails in there as well. Newport is another one that has a great mix of trails that are more wild. We enjoy Door County in the off season, when the tourists aren’t so abundant, and we aren’t into the shopping. Cherry picking and winery tours are a fun attraction during the summer. I can’t really pick a favorite, but some birding friends have been sharing things about Tofte Point SNA, which looks like a place to go. Don’t forget the Cana Island Lighthouse while you’re at it. Ellison Bay County Park is also a nice one, and I think that might be where Door County Challenge is located, another one we still haven’t done…yet.
We still need to get to the islands. We always find so much to explore on the mainland, we never quite get to the ferry docks.
