That’s great, Jeff! Thanks for sharing it and Merry Christmas to you!
Trekkin’ is reading his hometown paper, which had a little bit on the Pickers episode the other night. Woody lives in or near Wakefield MI, not too far at all from where Trekkin’ and Mr. Timberline Echoes grew up.
I wonder if they’re getting close? Last night’s episode had them in Da Yoop and at the EAA Museum.
There is such a cache up by Duluth, owned by EskoClimber. Some day, I’ll do that one…..
Thanks for the responses. We did that Little Free Library in Prairie too, as we have plans to create one of our own as a winter building project. Maybe that would be a good place for a few of these, rather than somewhere where the risk of damage is not so easy to monitor. Since “Trash Talk” was taken out by an auto accident, we could list the library as a cache, too. I was just curious how many even use this format anymore.
What about an interstate tug of war? One for kids, one for adults?
We know that some challenge ? caches are kind of silly and unless we qualify for those already, won’t work to do so. We do like challenges that are a real challenge….DeLorme, Well Rounded, the Rustic Roads and things like that. Those capture the original intent of geocaching, which is still what we love most. Others like the power trails. Still others will bike. There’s a place for all those things. No one is saying they must all be completed and we’re happy there are options for anyone out there, no matter their abilities. This is one of the few activities we enjoy that seems to include a wide range of ages and skills.
As for those other challenges….no tears shed here.
14 miles? Seriously? We did it all in a day, maybe it was that many.
Congratulations to all of you. It is a really fun series in a beautiful area, isn’t it?
No Photoshop needed (though I think he’d love it if I could give him back his hair and dark brown beard!)

What would be a 1940s era key???
I think it says “Drink more Ovaltine.” 🙄
When we first started caching, we, like many, thought the whole trackable thing was a big deal. They’re still fun, but we quickly learned that there’s no point in being disappointed when we visit a cache and the listed trackable isn’t there. Like sandlanders, we’ll contact the trackable owner if one in our cache is missing, and after ages, might mark it “missing.” Maybe we did that once or twice after someone else got snippy with us about marking a trackable in our cache “missing.” Caching for us isn’t about trackables, but about the places we discover and the great outdoors. The trackables are just a fun add on. I know others are really into the whole trackable thing so I do understand, but…..it’s unfortunately part of the game, just like DNFs.
Also, I believe there is a site dedicated to helping rescue missing bugs. I have heard comments that it’s helpful. Maybe someone has that site info they can share.
Congratulations you guys, on the milestone AND your choice to enjoy that nice weather. The next day was not so lovely, as we discovered!
Nice one, Jim. I enjoyed the log about your journey to that one, too!
We hid one in a Christmas tree today, too. But it will go unpublished until our next trip north. See “what are the odds” whining in the useless drivel thread.
Personally, the less of those cache locations available, the better!
