That is so cool! We love that show and heard they were in the Ironwood MI area recently, but haven’t heard if they did any filming while there. Do let us know when the episode will air…it would be our luck that it’s the one we’d miss, otherwise.
I don’t know how they can pick just one thing from there. Hopefully they didn’t take a shine to the cache!
The ways of groundspeak, as we’ve discovered, are many and strange. Things seem to happen at the whim of those who own the company, and it’s their company, even though all of us provide their product for them.
We do own some goofy challenges but have elected not to place any more of them. Trying to police the legitimate finds just leads to conflict, people in our area weren’t happy with us for placing them, and those things took the fun out of it for us as cache owners. We finally did archive the one we owned that was grandfathered in but violates the “choice” guideline. We felt it had run its course and the owners of the caches involved were being given an extra burden by virtue of those caches making our list. And it had been out for at least four years. We found the caches on the list in one year or less. Anyone who wanted dinner on us had ample time to accomplish the finds. Hopefully anyone who visited some of those caches and didn’t finish that challenge still had the great times we had with the caches they did try. That was our goal in placing it…go have some fun, explore and see what caching could be (and for the most part still was when we placed the challenge in 2008).
There are those who might argue that ALL geocaches should be banned, LOL. We look for the ones that interest us and move on by anything that doesn’t.
Just a follow up to this….we happened to notice while looking at another tough area cache that the person “befriended” by raslas also logged that one and included some of the same space shifting cachers on that log, too. That CO actually pointed it out to us, as he’d checked it and saw only a couple names on the log and many others claiming a find on the website. I guess I like our tough finds to be ones we found with our own hard work and where-with-all, but not everyone thinks the same.
Nesting geese shoving us off a 30 foot cliff into Lake Superior.

http://coord.info/GL7M9KHJBoth are true life near misses for us as it is. Two of our more memorable, anyway. After this many finds, a person is sure to gather a story or two like these.
I think all of us who place caches hear your pain, Ralph, but like others have said…cherish the good and ignore the rest. Every so often, we’ll have this urge to write the same kind of logs on the caches of those who write that kind on ours, but manage to stay the course and at least say something to thank them for their efforts.
I think we met him at one of your events, Pat. So sorry to hear he has passed.
As I think about this a bit more, I guess I’m inclined to agree with the majority, though we tend to be more of the “whatever floats your boat” mindset. Here’s why. You had been communicating back and forth with the one who actually did make the find and had established some level of “relationship.” He turned around and burned you, all in the name of so-called fun, at your expense. It’s not really very nice to treat someone’s kindness with such behavior behind their back.
So, creative logs or not…they don’t deserve the high terrain find here. My two cents.
I too like the word “funzies.” 😉
You’ll have to do as your conscience guides you, but after reading the logs, I must say as a storyteller….they sure beat “tftc!” 😉
We “upgraded” to a nuvi 1450t. We like the bigger screen, but it won’t allow us to use the POI loader with any success. When loaded that way, if we try to actually navigate to one such cache, the unit shuts off!
We’ve had to load them from the generic “1450t” dropdown in GSAK and then go through the tedium of deleting them one by one. Loading them this way places them in “all favorites.”
On top of all that, even with updated maps, this chick sure doesn’t seem to know the best way to get places a lot of time! Big screen is about the only plus!
Congratulations on a fine milestone!
Congratulations on an ultimate accomplishment, Pete! Couldn’t happen to a nice guy.
Congrats Steve and Donna!
Congratulations! Dick has been to that place but I never have, so someday we’ll be following in your footsteps there!
Congratulations, and thanks for making one of our caches your 1000th!
Congratulations on a mammoth milestone, Lisa!
