I haven’t counted. We’re kind of like Muggle B in this regard. Our focus the last month or two has been different, so we may be down from previous winters (snow was never that much of an issue other than impairing extended travel plans). I do know we’ve been busy placing a number of caches this past month as well as making sure everything is maintained well.
Overall, though we’ve worked really hard to maintain more balance in life and pursue our other interests again, we have been up overall for the year, after two years with an overall drop in numbers. Lots of travel combined with retirement has allowed that to happen. With all that, I’ve still done two Christmas Bird Counts, finished up an art project, and dug in to revamp a garden this past summer. Trekkin’ is playing his banjo again as well. We’ve been able to enjoy some non-caching socializing and hosting, too!
Personally, as someone who is never happier than on my skis in the woods, I’d like enough snow to make that happen for a couple months. Trekkin’ is not of a similar mind. 🙄
A grand accomplishment, but aren’t you guys a bit overdressed for the desert southwest???? Congrats!
Missed this great news the last time I checked through here…congrats to you. The kids sure don’t slow you down one bit!
12/31/2011 at 5:03 pm in reply to: Muggle B takes Wisconsin Traveler Challenge for 1100th Find #1954922Congratulations on a milestone cache that requires lots of bookwork!
Congratulations on the longevity in a game that can be a flash in the pan (or the satellite signals!) Always nice to visit with you both.
Congratulations, that’s a great milestone choice, too.
Congratulations on a very “holey” milestone indeed!
Congratulations to the whole family, great to see you could get out and do this one!
You know, I did walk across at least two of the bridges when I was there with my brother and his wife. Too bad I didn’t at least gather what I could that time. Course, that would require remembering I’d done so AND where I put the info!
You will be amazed at how much calmer the world seems once you step off the city streets into the park. Truly amazed!
I’d have liked to do that one last spring, but I was kind of hostage to my brother, so no go. I look forward to reading your log adventures!
We gave up gifting the other adults some years back, but I did just get two new apps for my iPod that may come in handy when out and about. For us, discovery is the name of the game and I’m always discovering “things” along the way. So I bought a nice Track and Scat app 😯 and also downloaded a free tree id app. Trekkin’ says we have all that stuff in pamphlets and books and stuff, but I can’t put all that, along with geosphere, iBird pro, the first aid app and Wisconsin butterflies in my pocket and still have space for extra batteries!
Becca, We felt the same way, but in most cases of nonresponsiveness, they’re…non-responsive. We’ve only had one individual get nasty, and really the language used in response to a “if you didn’t get that one item, tell us the rest and we’re good with it” really should have been reported to groundspeak.
The really sincere ones are always nice in return and will usually explain why they couldn’t complete some tasks, or forgot to send answers or whatever.
Pete, I’m unsure of my ability to attend at this point, but I am more than willing to help out with anything that can be done long distance.
Jay, I have been in that same position and had to make the same decision to not continue my board service. One’s own well being and health always trumps geocaching. We wish you well and thank you for your willingness to serve the interests of geocaching in the Badger State. Take care.
Ed, GMO emailed me with some steps to try, which I hope to do later. Basically, I’d like to be able to visualize how my finds for an area match up with a map of state designated areas. Hopefully I can work through LB’s steps, which I kind of thought would be a possibility but didn’t quite know how to proceed with it. Now I think I do!
