Thanks for the insight, Dave. We’re always happy to get whatever we can, actually, whether we can get them all or just some of them. It’s a great way to approach this hobby, we’ve learned. Have fun and be happy! 😀
I have yet to see the various youtubes on facebook of whatever amazing programmed light shows are out there. The Guitar Hero one a year or two ago was nothing short of amazing.
I did, however, come across a link to the 27 worst Nativity sets, and one of the items included, though not a nativity, was an animated light sculpture thing for the front yard, depicting the flogging of Jesus as he carried the cross. Talk about mixing up your liturgical calendars on top of everything else!
I’m with sandlanders. And also….a decent apartment for my son and his family, so we can have our house back! Selfish but sharing at the same time, don’t you think?
Becca, That sounds like a great challenge cache and everyone has already given you lots of great things to consider while deciding how to rate it. When we were in Missouri earlier this week, I noticed a really cool challenge that is similar in nature to what you’re suggesting.
http://coord.info/GC1PRHMWe have an unintentional start on it, since we seem attracted to caches that help us walk in history’s path. Take a look at the way it’s been rated and see if that gives you more to mull on. Looking forward to see what you’ve cooked up.
Lord of the Caches is a lot of fun. We did it in the winter, and that’s when we first met BraidBeard’s Gang.
Interesting question….we have 16 caches on ours. Most are ones we really enjoyed, about 3-4 are ones we’d like to do “someday,” and one is a monumental DNF on Washington state’s oldest geocache….one of the ones that keeps getting stolen around the location of the now-gone APE cache. We don’t worry about tracking new stuff or DNFs this way, but I know many like to do that.
We also have five TBs on watchlist. Three are ones we need to find in order to get info for a challenging cache near Northfield MN, one is one I released for someone while I was traveling, and one is one that went missing from one of our caches. 😥
I have a couple private bookmarks with the “caches of interest” now, and should really move those sorts of things from the watchlist.
Have you looked at the ones by MonkeyHunters? Middleton Matrix and Geological Puzzle? If you can get to WSQ A Grave Mistake before your trip, you can look at the rest in the series on the plane, too. The first two came easy, but that last one….I’m still missing something, even though I know I’m on the right track!
Congratulations on a gold plated milestone!
Oh, we were caching up that way last Friday and would have liked to do that cache. One day we will. What a great start for you!
Our prayers and thoughts go out to you and your family on your loss.
Be careful, our first GPSr was used for just hunting and fishing, but that’s in the past! If you log on to the geocaching website, you can create a free account and then do a search by zip code. You’ll be surprised how many are right in your area. Have fun.
P.S. Heck, I’d rather clean toilets than go Black Friday shopping! As it is, we’ll be having a little girl here for the day, so probably I’ll just get to play.
Beaver Creek Reserve to the east of Eau Claire has some nice trails and caches, too. It was even featured on Cornell’s E-bird site as a birding hotspot!
Fun logbook and look… Not one single “tftc” in the sign-ins. Times do change. We still try to write a small note on physical logs, but 9 times out of 10, the log only has space for a name. Thanks for sharing this!
Not just up north, either. This was in today’s LaCrosse Tribune. I wonder if the one being seen near us is the same one that was photographed in Mauston a few weeks ago.
Look at the second photo with the article. This is within 15 miles of our place.
