Well Brian, I DO want a pony, you know!
I never got a Chatty Cathy doll, either.
But I agree that it’s up to the cache owner to list the caches in whatever way they wish. There are caches I can’t get. There used to be one you had to do advanced SCUBA diving to the bottom of Lake Michigan and look for something on a shipwreck. That would be AWESOME, but…not even basic SCUBA here. For someone with the skills, it’s a great thing. No one will ever be able to get them all, anyway. Just move on to the next.
Either one of these events would have been fun, but we’d already made some promises to one of our grandkids (and their parents) for that day. Thanks for sharing the fun!
Congratulations Bill and Vicki….that is an awesome cache for an awesome milestone!
John, The It’s Not About the Numbers site used to be the place to go, but since they closed up shop, I’ve used a macro for GSAK to generate these maps. For some reason, I don’t have the url for it, but if you go to the GSAK support forums and look in the master macro index, there’s one called “Map Counties.” You pick which state and it does the rest.
I still like INATN better. 🙁
I just checked on the TB hotel in New York where I left a TB and then had the following finders comment there were none there. They missed it. Another cacher came along and retrieved the one I dropped. Whew!
Congratulations on a major milestone!
Time flies and the next thing you know, they’re out of the house. Great way to celebrate this milestone while they’re still hanging with you! Congratulations.
Congratulations on a well chosen milestone!
Somebody had themselves a lot of fun putting that together and should be hiring their act out at the Megas. Thanks for sharing it!
Thanks Ken for reposting that well written article and David for your work in raising awareness. I struggle daily with geocaching’s impact on the landscape I love….the fossil fuels burned, the trampling along well established geotrails, caches that get placed WAY off trail. We enjoy discovering the new places and gems geocaching has taken us, but wonder at the cumulative effect as more and more people get out there.
It’s really quite amazing to see how quickly a geotrail can develop. Caches where we’ve been one of the first 3-4 finders already show impact. We try to approach an area with our eyes first and a light touch. We often see trees ripped apart….half dead ones, to be sure, but those are also very important to the local ecosystem. Other than “no more geocaching,” it’s hard to know what the answers might be, but bringing these issues to the attention of more folks is a great start.
I looked at the Minnesota one. Not running up and down the ski hills! Back in the day, I ran hills with a vengeance and well, but now? I’m acting a little more my age. Have fun!
Awesome, Lil’ Otter caches always take you somewhere great, so a perfect milestone choice. Congrats Rick!
The first one is a great milestone, but the second is truly priceless. Congratulations to you AND your daughter!
Perfect time of year to mark a lovely milestone, Dave. Congrats!
Congratulations on a great milestone.
