No, not okay with flooding, for various reasons. Trekkin’ has to get his dad from Hurley to Duluth next week for medical reasons. With Hwy 2 blown out, he’ll have to detour up to Red cliff, adding about an hour to the early morning trip. It’s just heartbreaking to see some of the damage up there.
We were able to do the virtual challenge well before the new ones came on the scene, but it was like that for us with Minnesota. We had two left. Now I think we have 9 left, but not complaining. We kind of aren’t hurrying those at this point, since they only have a couple more months to list any. That way we don’t have the “I was just there!” experience that always seems to happen to us.
As for webcams…..I think they used to be more fun when you pretty much had to call someone at home to take your photo. That’s still how we’ve done any we’ve done, but the business of going to a spot, turning on your phone and hitting “save” kind of takes away from the adventure. That’s my opinion, anyway. Too bad HQ archived that one, though.
Yes, goat yoga. You do yoga, with goats wandering around. It’s hilarious! They especially seem to like ponytails flipping around.

I’m celebrating Cinco de Mayo by joining the music jam in a few hours. Sounds like we’ll be playing on the street today, so if anyone wants to heckle, head for Caledonia Street around noon! I haven’t been able to attend since the first one I joined on St. Pats and it was a ton of fun, so I’m looking forward to it.
Trekkin’ will be busy with stuff for the mother/daughter event at church, which I never attend. No daughter, my mom lives too far away…I feel like Jim at the Mexican restaurant, a party crasher.
So….on facebook I see that Poohs Pal and his parents picked up three bags of trash yesterday on their walk along the bike trail. I asked just where, and the reply was…”we made an Earth Day plan to do this weekly now.”
No souvenir needed. 😉
Gotta love this….so Friday was a no school day for Poohs Pal. We went out hiking and exploring, and while riding in the back seat, he informs me…”Grandma, we were driving by the marsh the other day and I saw Greater Yellowlegs in there.” Not “birds,” but “Greater Yellowlegs.”
That’s my boy!
You know us and big events….have fun. We’ll find something small scale to do!
I’m sure others will appreciate your bookmark, too.
So with all the family stuff of late, I hadn’t been out birding much. Now that life’s settling back in, I went out yesterday and had awesome views…and photos…of two really elusive marsh birds…..Sora and Bittern. Thanks Dad! Dad got me involved in photography when I was a preteen and it never left once bitten. Nature photography is how he got me started, too.
Having grown up in Minneapolis, the concept of “barge” was a single unit tied up below the mills. When I was driving the River Road near where I now live to go to a job interview, I saw this enormous metal “island” out there and was totally mystified. Also, the Mississippi looks very different from what I knew of it growing up less than a mile from its eastern bank.
Um, I guessing it’s more that the 10 people who’d love to do that are either at work or live too far away. Weather wouldn’t have kept a road sign hide unfound more than a couple hours! [;)]
We’ve had nasty, nasty, nasty. Rain, sleet, hail, snow, you name it. The ground was clear, now there’s a covering. Good day to stay home and do indoor projects, which are just sitting there awaiting us.
Worst part is that our sons were planning to go visit my dad in Minneapolis this weekend and travel is just not a smart idea. Hoping they can work out a skype visit. Even though they’ve always been there and should have no regrets, it’s important to them to “say hey” one more time, even if it’s virtually. 🙁
I did see that and I can understand maybe adding a day, but a week? We managed to get our stuff logged once the site was back up. Oh well. Least of my concerns these days. Enjoy the rest of your space travels, everyone!
I’ll tell you….what I’m learning from my experience here is not only is an advanced directive and will important to do ahead of time, what you want family to do once you’re gone should be discussed when you’re well and it’s not staring you in the face. Just sayin’….the first two we knew, but this afterlife stuff hadn’t really hit me.
Well, this is a bummer. We’ve never had to do something like this before when asked to participate in something like this, but because of about three separate family issues hitting us right now, we had to cancel our presentation. Probably it’s not important but just in case anyone for some wild reason was planning to see us there…..we won’t be there. 🙁
