This should be fun….I’m not sure how many we actually have, there are a lot over on the northeastern corner of the state, where we’ve barely touched the surface.
I like the idea of a challenge like this. FAR better than getting a jillion rest stops on the Interstate! LOL
We saw that, too. Hoping to get back down there yet this summer….we had a blast doing the others there and on the Bugline. Really, the best way to do microspew. Have at it!
Gary, Dillon Pass is on our list. I don’t know that we’ll get to Harney Peak this trip, but you aren’t the first to recommend it. We figure retirement isn’t too far away and we can make treks out in the fall. This trip is really about going to the Fur Trade Museum in Chadron Nebraska. We just saw how close to the Hills and Badlands we’d be and decided to hit some of those spots. We’ve both done the tourist stuff out there already, so we can skip over those attractions. We’re hoping to get ECs, virtuals and a couple trails in the Hills with some letterboxes. We don’t have nearly enough time….but kenneling the dog isn’t cheap and Trekkin’ hates to miss his banjo lesson.
P.S.
Tell her I think that’s a great photo!Well, he hasn’t bought his plane ticket yet. We’ll be on terra firma, heading to the Badlands and Black Hills, getting not that many caches and none of them FTFs. He’s reformed….NOT!
I do know someone else who has his plane tickets to find these, though. We’ll stick with our five mile hike in the Hills to find a few letterbox hybrids! LOL And hopefully the climb to Heck Table in the Badlands, if we can get past the threat of Prairie Rattlers.
Yeah, we signed a log on one of geolivestrong’s WSQs last summer right after she’d visited it. Maybe she could be a model of moderation for some of us??? 🙄
Welcome to the WGA….we’re hoping to make the CITO as well…depends on the weather and our little grandson, Pooh’s Pal. Hope to meet you there!
True enough, it’s always nice to see the long timers come back to the game when they can.
Congratulations on a milestone in the land of our northern neighbors.
NO!!!!! Who did this? I’m crushed!
He could have simply done this one as his alter ego, El Bastardo!
Trekkin’ loves this Mark Twain quote…..
“It’s a poor mind that can only spell a word one way.”
I realize it doesn’t help the immediate question, but hey! You’re in good company!
Congratulations, and what fun to enjoy this milestone finding a friend’s cache….with the friends along to heckle you!
Fifty miles from our home coordinates in West Salem WI, there are currently 1512 caches. We have 21 that we haven’t yet found. Three of those are questionable that we’ll ever find, although perhaps one of those might become a possibility at some point.
We used to have a goal to clear out everything, and have actually done that a couple times, nothing hidden on an ignore list. It’s a stupid goal, we’ve discovered. Why? Because when you have only 20 within 50 miles of your home, which is really more like 60 road miles, you don’t have much available for those times to just go out to get a few for fun one evening.
As a good friend likes to say, you can’t drain the ocean. We just like to explore and have fun.
Thanks Dave. I had noticed the presence of some of those oldies as well, high on my list and especially so if they’re on the same trails. I had an interesting little “issue” arise today at my storytelling gig, so for the time being, I’m completely penniless and without ID. Everything is safe and on its way to my house, but unfortunately….I’m not. Have a storytelling gig in Waterford tomorrow night and hope to find some way to scrounge up some gas money! Don’t know if the library can pay me cash, LOL. Hopefully all will work out and I can still look for these AND get enough gas to get back home tomorrow night.
I need a better system for these gigs. Changing in the ladies bathroom on campus just doesn’t seem to cut it. If it’s not a wallet, it’s keys. Sheesh! At least I have my GPS, priorities, ya know!
Congratulations on starting fast right out of the gate!
Congratulations! Not only is that a great challenge to complete for your milestone, the cache is a nice hike in a pretty area to celebrate it!
