Congratulations on a great pace!
Congratulations on a big, big number!
Though I haven’t met him in real life, we have emailed a few times over the years. I emailed him just yesterday about the possibility of a group of us doing his now archived Devil’s Wisdom Tooth cache and retrieving it for him. He is more than happy to have us do this, and gave me the details as to what will be needed to accomplish the job.
Not sure if this is still the case, but I know a couple of years back, he was the camp host at Wyalusing State Park, and had asked about the possibility of me doing a storytelling program for them. I would have loved to, but it was the same weekend as our storytelling festival here in town. So perhaps he is just occupying his time by enjoying the places close to home.
05/03/2010 at 10:04 pm in reply to: RJ McKenzie sittin’ and thinkin’ about a virtual milestone #1928370Congratulations….is your 2000th also one on which you are last to find? Looks like a neat spot.
I was later in getting the announcement out than I’d hoped to be. Please understand…..in the past month, I have had a sudden and abrupt job change, loss of a vehicle requiring all kinds of arranging to get us both to work, childcare of my 8 month old grandson after a full week of teaching, and other things beyond these I don’t wish to share.
It happens. I understand that there are those who don’t want to buy without knowing what it will look like, and I’m sorry for all of this. Again…we are only nine people, and people means….”human.” We make mistakes.
I really didn’t think I needed to explain myself to appease members, but there it is. I know others on the Board have also had things going on that sometimes interfere with our duties. We do our best to help each other out. In fact, with the many life issues that have happened to me after being elected, I have suggested to the rest of the Board that maybe I’d better resign. They have all said….we’re human. It’s okay.
Again, I’m sorry if we can’t be run like a business, but….we aren’t a business. Stuff happens. How many times do we need to say we’re sorry? Order a shirt or don’t order a shirt. We’ll find ways to get them to those who can’t come to the CampOut.
It looks like those who can’t attend the CampOut have people who are willing to make sure they get their shirts. Please keep in mind that we are only nine people, all of us with families, full-time jobs and the various life adventures and trials that sometimes get in the way.
We aren’t in a position to store these things or set up mailing and shipping them. That’s why the other store is CafePress. If you want a shirt, by all means order it, and there will be someone who will help make sure any who can’t attend can still get theirs. I personally am getting one to a local cacher, and the “pony express” system Pat suggests can work, too. We’re always glad to see the membership step forward to help out, as Pat and others have offered here. This is a social organization, and these kinds of situations actually help in small ways to promote that “social” aspect.
Okay, the search is still on! The owner would be thrilled to have us rescue the container. So, throw out some ideas for dates and rain dates that can work for people.
Also, a cable cutter will be needed to pull the cache, so anyone coming who has one of those….bring it! Sounds like it should definitely be in place!
Congratulations…..I got within 60 feet of that one last fall, hanging on, and decided to return with Trekkin’. Great area! Welcome to “The Club.”
Congratulations, a fun place to mark a milestone!
Congratulations, Jen!
It’s worth asking. The archive log said the ‘tooth has been pulled,” but maybe he doesn’t mean literally yet. Thanks for the idea!
Looks like this trip won’t happen. The cache was just archived. 🙁 I wonder if the owner is just getting out of caching? He archived the virtuals, too.
Too bad.
Congratulations, but bummer about the windshield!
Chris, Way to seize upon an opportunity! If nothing else, that is one more legislator (maybe TWO) who now has an awareness of this sport and some of the issues that surround it. Thanks for putting yourself out there.
Congratulations on lucky 1300, LB!
