It doesn’t bother us in the least. Any at our locations, post away!
Thanks everyone, it just seemed like a perfect milestone, especially since I, Birdin’ have quite a bit of history with that bird, not all of it mentioned in the log.
As for knocking on wood? Make sure it’s a double knock. If it is, call me to get a photo!
Congratulations, and enjoy your warm escape from the snow!
Not the expert, I believe that’d be Jeremy, but I think it misses some stuff for various reasons. All no doubt very technical reasons, which is why I don’t understand it!
I think it would be kind of fun to see what other states/countries Wisconsin cachers cached this past year.
And neither of those two D5/T4.5 caches is old enough to qualify for the California Well Rounded Cacher. So I’ve been told. 😉 In fact, that combo is rather primo anywhere. People trying to qualify for the Ontario WRC are having to travel to Michigan to attain it! It’s one of just two we still need to be able to qualify for the original WRC.
For us, the coolest thing about doing the well rounded is finding that most of these rare combos require a bit of travel, so we get to cache somewhere new, and they are usually pretty memorable caches once we’ve done them. Eagle Source was one of those. Still our favorite! Most of our favorites are ones we’ve discovered trying to fill in “the grid.” Looking to complete the grid again with older caches has added more favorites, too.
Congratulations!
Dean, just echoing Ralph’s congrats on 1000 logs.
Congratulations on the milestone in the midst of a lot of caches!
We also add our heartfelt hopes that things turn around for Emma and your family. Many of us have things we face, but I can’t imagine anything more difficult to deal with than a child’s serious illness. You are so right in saying none of this matters in the big picture.
I’ve got photos of the Boaz mastadon, but the story of its discovery I heard was quite different. A couple kids were sent out to place fence posts, and when they did, they found these cool bones, grabbed all their friends cause the adults didn’t believe them, and started digging.
The rest, as they say, is “prehistory.”
When our son heard this story, we found him later digging big holes in a sheltered part of our back yard, hoping to make a similar discovery. We sent him to archaeology day camp for kids shortly thereafter, where he was part of a dig near Perrot Park. The glamor aspect of the field died for him. All they found were a couple tiny shards of indeterminate origin and age.
I’ve cached in Oxford! How cool is this?
I appreciate the question as well, as these always have left me scratching my head. As with SG, I don’t want solves, just guidance in a general sense. I do puzzles because I enjoy the aha moment, not because I ‘need’ the find.
I do know there is something called “invisible ink” that shows up when you either print it out, or highlight and drag across the whole page. I haven’t tried that with either of these, but it might be worth checking. That’s the only kind of picture puzzle I’ve ever been able to solve.
Welcome, we also enjoyed the UWSP event last spring and caching in Point. Both Trekkin’ and I are alums. So’s his brother, whose wife also visits these forums, but I’ll let them introduce themselves.
Hey Marc, You’ve already gotten it on our home page! 🙄
Looks that way. It figures. We’re supposed to be heading to the big event in Hudson tomorrow. Well, we managed one good weekend out of the past five.
