Debby I was wondering all day yesterday if you got the ride. We need photos. Lucky you, glad it finally happened and met all your expectations!

I think we’ve figured out the direction for vacation next year.

Moosefest 2018 in Roslyn Washington, where much of our absolute favorite ever TV show, Northern Exposure, was filmed. We were really close to that town when we took our road trip after retirement, and have been kicking ourselves ever since for not making that pilgrimage. Now we can go, looking forward to our own Cicely experience. Some of the actors are usually on hand at these things, too.

Yes. I know. We’re weird. And pumped about it!

I was just working on an online crossword. One hint was “prefix with caching.” The answer? “Geo.” Go figure.

Hope you can make it, we’re planning to be there, too. We can’t linger, because we have another engagement in the evening back here.

And hope you have some success in finding new digs.

Boy, it’s scary to go to the Habitat worksite and be considered one of the “experienced” volunteers! There were only about three of us there today. Among other new skills, I learned how to frame out a garage service door, including making the header and cripples. Whole new vocabulary, too. We had a group of ladies from a local salon who were volunteering as a teambuilding deal today. One had run the miter saw before. The others…..noobs! Troopers, though.

That’s an interesting way to look at things. I don’t remember where we were at with FP on the two we checked. As I said, if things happen, we’ll be archiving them when it does, with a few exceptions. I like the comment from Amita, too, that if few people hike out to them now, why would a new one be any different? In this specific case….the individual could get a new smiley. If we find places we enjoy through caching, we don’t need more caches to bring us back to enjoy it again. Some people do.

Not even going to try catching up here. We’ve been away from online stuff and are one day from home now. Hope everyone’s been enjoying doing whatever they’ve been doing!

We missed any pancakes and stuff. We also weren’t able to go to a family bday party in Green Bay because…..Trekkin’s sciatica is bothering him. And I’d promised to go to a home party hosted by Pooh’s Pal’s mom yesterday. We were able to go to downtown LaCrosse and spend time at one of the other craft breweries here we hadn’t visited before. It was nice to just stay home. We’ve been on the run nearly every single weekend this summer, usually somewhere at least a four hour drive from here.

Ah, crap! Another abrupt halt to my caching time…emergency eye surgery this afternoon for a detached retina :( Won’t be seeing anybody soon.

Uh oh, that’s not good. Hope you heal quickly. Trekkin’ is walking a line with that; he was eye poked a couple years back while caching and has a detached vitreous tendon. He was told he’d “get used to it,” but hasn’t, really. If there are certain indicators, it might be detaching completely and then maybe you’d have a roommate in the surgical suite.

I wonder if that peacock was someone’s watch bird displaced by the recent weather. Add it to your yard bird list!

Oh Debbie, I’m sorry to hear that. But you’re right, better to wait till you feel great and the weather does, too.

Photobucket is not making me happy. They’ve decided….without any warning….to block links to third party sites. We’ve been working through our cache listings, trying to restore the things that have to have photos because of puzzles and the like. One puzzle just had to be archived, because the format of the image wouldn’t transfer. No big deal. We’re moving away from the constant need to cache anyway, but we do like having nice looking cache listings, which isn’t going to be the case now.

What really bums me out is the fact that my blog images are trashed. When I started that, photobucket was one of the sites recommended for hosting photos for the blog. My birding blog, when I still maintained it, was given some notice more than once at fairly high levels. Now I have the words, but none of the photos to include. Yes, I suppose I could go back and try to get them back with another host site, but the cache listings are creating enough work already.

Darn you, Photobucket! Darn you, technology!

We’ll be having Pooh’s Pal starting tomorrow until sometime Sunday. Parents are going to the SubOctave music festival in Minnesota. He’ll come to the caching event with us on Sunday and if the weather cooperates….we do goat yoga on Saturday morning.

I’ll have to explore some of those ideas. Miraculously, when Trekkin’ went through and removed all the broken links left behind, the puzzle cache pages had the images re-appear. Maybe that deleting dropped my upper limit or something, but it’s still something I need to explore. On the GC Help pages, they talk about a way to host photos within the cache page. Maybe I’ll see how that all works. Thanks!
