Well, I know the whole issue of whether or not to post DNFs has been endlessly debated here, but along with “needs maintenance” instead of admitting a miss, we find it interesting that there are some folks who NEVER post DNFs, claim to have found tough caches, and then when we check ours or revisit some others……these folks have not signed the log.

      Hmmm.

Beating that same old dead horse, but there should be no shame in posting a DNF. It does not mean you’re a bad cacher, only that you couldn’t find it. We have tons of those little blue faces…236 as of this writing… and very often….it turns out the reason we couldn’t find it was….it was gone. The owners would not know if no one ever posts them. Pretending to find caches you really didn’t just makes it tough for the owners to know there’s a problem. Granted, there are owners who never read the cache logs, but we do. It’s really one of the main reasons we put them out, to enjoy reading others’ stories.

Which is a whole *different* topic and pet peeve of ours!
      😉

I think it’s still there. Cathy? Isn’t it?

Used to be one in Sparta. Now it’s The Pig.

Most of the caches I’ve seen where fall hunting season is an issue either state this clearly and advise no searching during gun deer, or in some cases, the owner will actually disable it during the season.

We experienced a close call on Sunday. We were doing a little caching in Shakopee MN while our kids were at the Ren Fest. Stopped to look for a cache in a city park, though it was on the outer edges of the city. Found the cache in the woods by a pond, and after putting it away…..shotgun shells came whizzing by at close range!

All we can figure is maybe there was some kind of special duck hunt there. It really wasn’t much of a spot for hunting, and nothing posted at the park entrance. Not even a big park!

Bill, continued well wishes for a quick and mostly painless recovery. Maybe you and the grands can stay in with a movie. Or they could teach you about their video games (although Wii might be out for awhile!) 😉 I know our boys always got a laugh out of watching us try to play Tokyo Extreme Racer.

Thanks for asking, Mike. It was a weird deal. She and my brother were at the airport, ready to head to a trade show in Atlanta. She just didn’t feel well, my brother went to the show and came home almost right away, because when she went in to the doctor, they hospitalized her. Turns out she had to have major abdominal surgery, and will be coming home today, hopefully. She won’t be able to eat real food for quite some time, and will be awfully sore. Not sure how long it will take her to mend, but it could have ended much, much worse, so we’re all glad she caught this.

They’d hoped to bring my parents down to visit and meet the new grandbaby. If we can figure out what to do with the stamp-eating dog, maybe we can make the trek the other direction instead. No one’s getting any younger!

This is actually Birdin’, but believe it or not, we have found every cache within 50 miles except for a paddle cache downriver, three way up in Hatfield and one challenge cache we will never find.

So we aren’t the best folks for planning a local caching trip! LOL

And the stupid PQs have still not run. I’d just leave, but I sort of need the electronic download to the nuvi if I don’t want to get lost in some sandpit!

This was supposed to be a day to burn off steam from a lousy weekend. It’s not working out that way so far.

I can use a manufactured stamp, have plenty of those. I have tried every which way to get the PQ to run and it won’t. Maybe I should take you up on your offer, Pat!

Congratulations! That’s a cache we’ve wanted to do, but it seems like our winter trips aren’t very conducive to it!

Congratulations on the birthday milestone. Does that make two milestones in one day?

Sounds like you let the wind blow you from cache to cache to find this many! Congratulations.

Congratulations on a quick start. We too got the GPSr for the same reasons, and after much prodding from Timberline Echoes to “use your GPSr for other things,” we hardly use it for its original purpose at all now!

We also enjoy the journey and discovery of the hobby.
