Congratulations, and a truly memorable way to mark both your milestone and remember this day in history and those who have served our nation.

I currently have 15 cache listings on my watch list. They fall under the following categories….

1)Interesting caches we’ve found. I want to see what others say when they find them. This would be things like the DeLorme Challenge and the Blackout cache in MN.

          2) Caches that we’d really like to do some day but haven’t. Things like EskoClimbers “Cliffhanger” in Duluth, an old crypt EarthCache in Indiana and the Isle Royale Earthcache are examples. If we find these…and it happens….I might keep them on the watchlist or let go and move on.

          3) Personal interest, like the Silver Ammo can that was put out for us when we hit 1000.

          4) Very rarely….DNFs, just to see if they turn up or were missing. Usually only if it was a cache we really wanted to find, like a letterbox. Otherwise, DNFs are just another part of the sport to us.

Pat, Are you saying you DON’T want sandburs?

I noticed in reading the blog that the previous record is 407. Yowza, so this kind of thing has happened more than once.

I think our best day was around 65, and that was during Cash Bash. No temps or anything. I need to say that both years, I was in Illinois during the time Dick was at Bash, and got 4-6 caches traveling home on the same day, so it inflated our numbers just a little.

It’s fun to get some numbers days, but we still prefer finding a worthy destination, then grabbing whatever easy stuff is along the way. Or picking an area and trying to cache it out. We don’t discriminate against any particular cache type, either. If it’s solved, we’ll look! But Pat’s right, there’s something for everyone and I don’t want to ever be critical of others’ choices in this game.

Dickeyville is pretty incredible. For another cache at a similar but smaller site, check out this one north of Sparta.

Paul and Matilda Wegner Grotto. It’s one of the first we did, and one of the first somewhat unconventional hides that had us stumped for a little while.

The concrete park in Phillips is another cool virtual.

This post reminds me that we have to get our Weird Wisconsin cache out there. Already have permission for the final placement, just gotta do it.

I saw that, too, and they didn’t split up, either. Wow. Though I think I could do that but once and never want to see another lamppost again.

Lately, we’ve been happy if we even find 20, although there have been a few notable exceptions to that. Contrary to the opinion of several, we have slowed down!

                    Congratulations on another!

Also…..when we did the Maze in Davenport last weekend, their profile photo was one of those displayed to show the faces of geocaching. I’m sure they’ve heard this (or probably seen it!), but I thought I’d add it here.

I was contacted individually by a naturalist at a nearby state park. We had discussed some tentative dates, but those have since passed. I know these folks are really busy this time of year, and geocaching is just one part of a big picture.

I’m just glad to see the interest is building, and would be happy to help out.

Thanks Nate. I ended up coughing up the extra money we’ll be billed to have them emailed to me.

I will NOT forget to replace the card in my camera again. The hazards of grandparenthood. 🙄

If your name is “Birdin.” it can be as little as 5 feet!

I have never been able to make these changes on my own, though supposedly up to a point, you can.

I’m guessing it’s the holiday weekend. I’ve noticed it being really slow, too. Glad we had other plans for today, LOL.
