Marc, This is actually the B half of the team, but we’re on the same page….for now!
I thin cheeto sort of hit it on the head. This hobby has the potential to attract addiction, obsessions and the likes of that when you start “playing” at this level. We’ll do numbers once in awhile, but we’re really feeling more relaxed about it right now.
Interesting comments so far, keep the conversation going!
Since you mentioned The Artful Dodger, I’m guessing you’d consider others in Governor Dodge. We did most of them and enjoyed them all. There are also two EarthCaches in the park as well.
You aren’t that far from Richland Center, where GR8 Eyes has put out a boatload of caches geared to newbies. Also check out two there called “Richland Center Towers” and “The Out of Towners.” Challenging hike up some trails that overlook the valley below.
I did one on the southern side of the Wisconsin River that was a challenging hike up the (very steep) side of a bluff, that had a great view of the river and the Iowa bluffs in the distance. GCTVZH
That area is kind of cache sparse, but most of the ones there are nice ones. Have fun! Hope this helps.
Congratulations indeed. Won’t be long before you hit the 2k mark now!
Congratulations, that’s a nice cache for a milestone, too. A letterbox, bird habitat….oh year, I already did it!
Again, congratulations.
Awesome way to mark it, congratualtions, Pete!
Wait a minute, I had to check to see if I’d added my congrats, because I thought I just did. Oh no, that was 1300! Wow, you guys are flying! Congratulations.
Alex, thanks, that I can probably do!
I looked at it and I guess it figures some stuff out, but I couldn’t figure out how it would work to get me coordinates based on the listed caches.
Ignore, ignore, ignore. I can do this!
You can reuse some of the previous ones, as long as you meet the requirements for a level. So if you have put out, say, two EarthCaches and found others in the number of states needed for gold, you’re good.
Hmmm, I just looked at that program and am asking myself…how much more money do I really want to throw at this hobby?
I guess there’s always the option of just skipping those caches. They appealed the the structural engineer’s grand-daughter, but I don’t think I got enough of those brain cells myself!
Nope, these are in Rochester MN.
We had a Magellan Explorist 400 which really held the signal in heavy cover. Unfortunately, it needed repairs, they don’t repair it and they’ve discontinued that model.
I hate planned obsolesence.
Thanks for the logs, everyone. If we do hold this event, we’d love to have others come and give their perspective as contributors.
We tend to operate like furfool…..if we give it a decent search, the DNF goes public, but if for some reason we feel we didn’t give it a full look, we might not, or might just make a note to that effect. I guess I feel that “Did not find” means…..I didn’t find it. For whatever reason. If we log a DNF, it stays, even if we go back later and find it. I know there are a few where we have multiple DNF logs.
Given how tenacious we can be when it comes to a search, it’s kind of amazing to realize we do have this many DNFs. When I have nothing else to do, I really need to see how many were discovered to be gone after our logs.
So you weren’t just doing reunion stuff, were you? 😉 Congratulations, Blaise, 2000 is not far off!
Congratulations on finally finishing the deed! It’s quite a ride, isn’t it?
