Just scraping north of us, it appears. Our sons were canoeing and camping the Black River overnight, and were here already at 8:30 this morning to return stuff. Biting bugs were awful. Good thing, otherwise they might have still been out there in this stuff today.
Wow, is it windy out there! Probably a blessing with the heat. We’re heading up to Elmaro to kick back with some wine and cheese and the chance to discover a new to us musician. Melanie Devaney. If Trekkin’s allergy meds kick in. Enjoy the day however you choose to play.
I think we’ve moved mostly beyond the all yellow stage..maybe. But have you ever noticed how much a person can obsess about the one cache out of twenty we couldn’t find? 😉
Most of “Thursday crew” were back on the job today, doing prep work for the footings to be laid for the local Habitat’s 43rd home build. We’re all tired but happy to be back at it.p
My understanding is that Dan found a girlfriend and Harleys and just shifted to those interests. We have connections to that area, so I think my source is fairly reliable.
Are fairy gardens passé now? I wasn’t going to run all over to find plants for one my grandson made a few years back, and only found one small scale coleus to put in. I punted with a variegated mint for the other plants. No sign of those lovely flowering moss plants anywhere I’ve looked. 🙁
How’d she do in the track meet? Weather held, but we set a new high temp of 97 today, not great weather for athletes.
Tomorrow we make a trip to the Cities. The whole fam damily will be there. We planned this because we thought Dad is hanging on to experience this, but he seems like he’s decided to stick around awhile longer. So it should be just fun, which is great…even though it’ll be a long day. Just up and back, since my sons work Monday and their kids still have one more week of school.
I can die a happy woman! Just discovered one of the area yoga instructors is offering goat yoga here. I’ve done paddleboard yoga, beer yoga and now I can do yoga with goats.
First session is the same day as Billy Joel at Lambeau. Guess I’ll have to wait another week.
I actually felt it was safe to plant up the patio pots today. Now back out front for more weeding. Hoping the native plant people have a couple things I can add in there when I go to the farmers market in a couple days.
(Too much caching talk here). 😉
Oh, oh, OH! Mean Mary and a bunch of other cool musicians are playing the folk festival in Wautoma in July!!!! Unless the weather is awful, I know where we’ll be.
I can start our countdown to Billy Joel in a couple days, too. I think Trekkin’ got those tickets to make up for all the bluegrass stuff he’s wanted to see. Nothing wrong with bluegrass, mind you, but variety is good.
We avoided (most) of the holiday madness by leaving Saturday morning, coming home Sunday afternoon and going somewhere no one goes….northwestern Iowa. Though the Okoboji area was the exception to that. Had an entertaining time doing two webcams the old school way, with sandlanders on the other end of the phone line at her computer.
So Trekkin’ bought a new “saws all” type power saw this morning. Gets it home, opens the box and…..someone used it! And broke it! And packed it all up to be returned for a refund and put back out for sale!
It won’t go back on the shelves now. And he asked to inspect the one he was getting to replace it. On a slightly related matter….I’m back “at work” for the new Habitat build site next Thursday. Lots of changes in personnel, so it will be interesting, but I enjoy it no matter what.
And really need my hot yoga practice the day after those days!
Maybe they’re nest building nearby this year. They’ll disappear for awhile once that’s done, but I’ve heard if you put out mealworms, they’ll flock there once the kids arrive. (ha ha)
I’ve netted four new life birds in just about the same number of days. Feast or famine, I tell you! I’m four birds away from 200 for the year in Wisconsin, which isn’t that impressive. But I mainly bird around here or when traveling for other reasons, so not half bad. If I took a road trip to Horicon soon, I could add several new birds and easily go over the top.
But I won’t. Probably. Not.
Hello from windy, cold, rainy Racine! I was going to go birding and caching a little in my off time, but the workshop hosts have invited us to their home for pizza and a jam session. Might as well put all the stuff I learned today into practice! Hope all those who go to the event enjoy it. We used to go in all kinds of weather, but now…..not so much!
My great niece graduated with honors from the UW last Saturday. She finished in three years with a double major. There’s one apple that fell a heck of a long way from the tree!!
Congratulations to her! What is her double major?
