Congratulations on the Wisconsin Millennium milestone, as well as that 1300 thing!
Great one to pick, we hope to do that one ourselves one day. Congratulations!
Look at all the milestones in here today…Alan hit a big one! Congrats to you!
Karl, You are really ripping them up! That does look like a cool cache, too, we’ve done others by the same placer that we really liked. Congratulations!
Some of us do! LOL Some of us even grew up north of the 46th parallel and go there often!
Congrats on the FTF. Trekkin’ has fallen off the wagon and got a bunch of them today. And he was doing so well for awhile there!
Thanks everyone, and thanks to JimandLinda for noticing. Still have to upload a photo of that awesome depot to the log, too. We sure had a great time caching Fond du Lac this weekend, and will be back in warmer weather to hit those bike trail caches nearby.
And Dean, we DID slow down!!! We looked at our cache finds for December and January and they were at least half what we’d done that same period last year. So there! 🙄 As for Top 10……not gonna happen. Believe it or not, we just aren’t that intense, LOL.
Thanks again, we always have fun!
I gathered all kinds of info for one on the potholes trail in Devil’s Lake last fall, but…..having depended on the GPSr for waypoints, I didn’t count on someone clearing them all out! I have all the research and my plan, but will need to go back to get new waypoints before submission. I’m waiting for the trail to be clear of ice. Not smart for old people to hike that one when icy! Maybe I can scope it out this next week.
Congratulations! Always enjoy seeing what mountain you climb for these, too.
We had a beautiful old crab in our yard when we bought this place. Once the mice had girdled it…..gone. I hope you can find help for yours.
So, once ours dies, we should plan on something else that can serve this purpose, huh? As long as it runs GSAK and Cachemate, I’ll be happy. I don’t love trying to learn new technologies!
still say variety is the spice of life.
We’ve got one of those coming shortly, too. 😈
I personally don’t expect to always get these tough ones first trip through. We went to Wausau last weekend hoping to do the new series there, and blew one of the caches in the 6 pack. So, another trip. Same thing happened when we did Gauntlet over in Faribault.
However…..I do know there are those who want to be able to make a single sweep, but I’m guessing the folks who’ll go after a 5/5 will not necessarily be the same people. Thanks for the input; we’ll probably put the actual caches out soon, work on the puzzle and hopefully be able to publish it later, once I have something that works.
Yeah, that was kind of the sort of thing I had in mind…..solve that mystery and get to the first waypoint, after which point the coords would be easy. The terrain part is the easy thing here.
If you come across the one you found, I’d love to take a look. I don’t want to copy cat the things others have done, but I don’t want to put it out only to be hard. I know exactly what you mean about the bit where having a sense you might be on the right track is key. I’ve solved enough hard ones to know how that feels!
I actually have enjoyed the aspect of discernment many involve….what is really needed here? I always make things way harder than they really are before the light bulb finally goes on. Most of the time, once that happens, they are 2-3 difficulty at most. It’s just getting through to that stage that makes them a 5, in my experience.
Even without facebook, it’s easy enough to organize group outings. Just post in the “looking for someone to cache with” forum or whatever it’s called. Even if someone doesn’t read these forums, chances are their friends do and will pass on the info to interested parties.
Congratulations! This one looks right up our alley….I know one of the first we’ll hit when we finally get down that way!
I’m on it and waste my share of time with it, but I keep thinking…..this thing is like Narcissis and his pond. I mean, who really cares if I’m “planning a road trip?”
Love it….changing one’s mood without technology!
