Heck, according to these maps, the Swamp of Shrek and Fiona and our hill country don’t even exist. Kind of like that famous New Yorker magazine cover……
Cooked all day, sons and girlfriends came over to help scarf it all up, now I’m shot!
Trekkin’ did manage a FTF this morning, but that’s all the caching we did. I like the film container in the turkey idea myself, can it be listed on gc.com, or would it have to be a temp? LOL
Congratulations, Dean….be watching for a truly evil hide in your honor which will no doubt be “tucked in!” 😉
Sometimes we might cut out multis just because of time, but we usually don’t avoid them otherwise. We’ve done one with as many as ten stages, many with 4-7. The biggest frustration, of course, is missing stages, but isn’t that true when a traditional cache is missing, too?
Guess we’re heading just a little further south, original plan. That way, we won’t get in the way of marc sharing his insight for the Dark Knight with y’all!
Just shoot us an email if you have questions about an EC, though. Hope you’re having fun!

Well, marc, you know we can just plug in your name to our GPSr and find you anytime, right? 🙄 Bulletproof!

We’ll just continue to load the Palm on the desktop for now. Thanks for saving me a little work!
Now…where did I put my disk for my Photoshop program, anyway? 🙄
Thanks, that’s good news. And thanks for the tips. GSAK is such a bargain for what it can do….I didn’t even have to pay to add it to a second computer. Wouldn’t it be great if all software companies followed suit? (Are you listening, MapSource?) LOL
We’re hoping we can make this, although if the weather is iffy, the three hour drive might not be a good plan. Thanks for setting this up, s|s!
And yes, even though I’m old, I got the Motel reference! LOL
We decided that I’ll get the topo software for mine. Most of the time, we’re caching together, and if one of us is traveling, as I was this past weekend, that one gets the autorouting. So many times we’ve wished we had topo maps. This gives us the best of both worlds.
I swear by the SmartWool hiking socks, with regular ragg wool socks over those inside my sorels, ONLY if it’s terribly cold. Otherwise, just the smart wool hikers. They aren’t cheap, but they are knit in such a way that they NEVER create annoying foot wedgies by riding down in the boot.
I use them all year, unless it’s warm enough for the Keens. They wear like iron, too. We’ve been out in weather as low as 25 below, WITHOUT the wind. A good bank robbers hat is good for those conditions.
We love winter caching! We are winter people, so we take on caches that are harder in the summer—like Eagle Source near Timberline Echoes—with snowshoes. Some allow us to cross country ski. Otherwise, we’re hiking, carefully, but we don’t ease up on terrain much. I’m more likely to have my hiking stick along. We carry our “secret winter caching tool,” a shovel. Last winter began to wear thin, as we got tired after awhile of chipping everthing out of the half inch layer of ice coating most ground hides before we got any real snow, but we were still out.
The best part for Trekkin’? No Lyme disease risks! 😉

Congratulations!
And I know EXACTLY which EC in Hawaii you’re eyeing up. I so want to do that one, but Trekkin’ won’t be with me whenever I do. Sigh. Have fun.
Congrats on one heck of a big number, even bigger than your five digits!
