It is frustrating. Trekkin’ doesn’t want us to put any more out, but once in while, we will. I do have one coin that is working it’s way on its mission. We started it in one of our caches, want it to go to the Pacific coast to watch the whales migrating, then head back this way. Passing Wind grabbed it at some point and got it to San Diego, where it sat for quite awhile in a cache. Then it was picked up and has been moving up the coast now. I think it’s near Vancouver Island right now.
We’ve actually only had one coin vanish so far. There’s another that seems to have been held by someone for a long time. Our TBs move around now and then. I think my Red Hat actually showed up at the West Bend event. It wants to go to fun places, so it sounds as if it’s doing just that!
I’ve been switching back and forth between IE and Firefox, mainly because when I’m on Firefox, I can’t seem to:
stay logged in here. I can only read the posts.
and, get my gmail. Not sure why this would be. If I could solve those problems, I’d scrap IE altogether.
Right now, we’re trying to figure out why all of a sudden, one of our computers can’t access the net, and the other can. Both on the same provider, same network. Technology continues to remain a mystery much of the time!
I know she made it, because she left a phone message on our cell phone.
No idea about this Seven Geocaches thing, eh?We have a new cool GPSr, but I still use my little yellow eTrex when I’m caching sans Trekkin’. He grumbled a lot about it when we were using it awaiting the arrival of the new one, but we’ve found lots of caches with it. And placed a few, too.
I think this game can be whatever a person makes of it. Yes, some of us use our discretionary income to enjoy the game, but the core (at least for us) is being taken to places we might not discover otherwise, challenges we never knew were available for us to try. Trekkin’ was telling my dad just yesterday that compared to his historical trekking hobby, geocaching has him out in the woods and exploring remote locations WAY more than trekking ever has.
Thanks everyone, but we pale in comparision to people like Da Fu and DD. We lucked out, in that we spotted a KB challenge unfound. He lives near my parents and we were heading up for Mom’s birthday. So, when running the PQ, we get mostly KB Challenges close by.
We looked at this one, looked how close we were and made a run for it on Friday, then grabbed an extra on our way to the Cities on Saturday.
We really encourage people to try an earthcache or two. We have a curiosity about geology, anyway, and after doing some of these, we look at our surroundings with new understanding.
Thanks again. Marc, in answer to your question….we need 84 more to get to a century of letterboxes. A formidible task indeed!
Thanks for the information, Dave. Maybe people will be more inclined to place a few more of these, now that they understand them. I see gotta run put out a new one. I have another one I want to place and if we ever get our canoe series out, at least one of those will be a letterbox hybrid, too.
The two that Digital Dan placed were really fun ones, set up more like a traditional letterbox hunt.
Big congratulations to you, Dave!
Congratulations on a milestone, Pete. Wasn’t it about a year ago we met you at PC Frog’s event, and you were heading to mark number 200? LOL
Hey, we had the joy of spending a weekend caching with Noah! last weekend. He is quite the little cacher. He’s especially attentive to the overhead vegetation, which could be very helpful for those up high hides!
Seriously, he is such a joy to have along. Would rather be outside than in his carseat. He was born to be out hiking and caching! Congratulatios Noah!, although I’m sure at this point, you could care less!
When you go to the query page, at the bottom you’ll find a box to click to generate “My Finds.” I find that I need to tell it to send it on a day of the week, like if I ran it today, I’d check “Tuesday,” so that it comes to my email account.
These queries can only be run once every 7 days. I’m sure there’s someone here who can explain this better if my explanation is unclear.
Thanks, that’s exactly what I want to do. Sometimes it’s best not to see what other options are nearby if you are on a mission, LOL.
One of my co-workers was telling me about an albino deer that hangs around her parents’ cabin home. I can’t for the life of me remember where it was, maybe around Hayward?
I’ve never seen one myself, although some years back, a guy shot one during deer season around here. Caused quite a stir in the media.
Those are all cool photos!
Congrats on a great itinerary, one we’ll probably never match.
Course, that’s what we said about the Delorme, too.
Again, congrats, what a great way to see the country!
Glad you enjoyed it, Mr. Z-Man, although I see you beat us to that other new one that had been sitting there awhile! We wondered why no one had made it out there.
We’re pretty happy, though. We just spent an AWESOME weekend with Honeybunnies, meeting up with Timberline Echoes for some great caching, including a mess of earthcaches, in the U.P. So we’ll grant you that FTF.
Besides, Trekkin’ says he’s getting better about that little problem LOL.
Snow is great for us cross country skiiers and snowshoers, but we’re not ready for it yet. This has really been a nice summer this year. Too bad for some of us it’s finally coming to an end this week….(teachers and students!) Guess we need to pay for the gas to keep playing this game somehow!
