It’s a game. If getting FTFs isn’t a big deal, go with that. If you’re nuts for the things, as people like zuma and one half of our team are, go with that.
We’re all different in our likes and dislikes, and thank goodness for that, or it would be pretty boring at events! The fun of the caching stories everyone tells is hearing the different experiences we have.Because we all have different likes and styles, maybe not all of us would enjoy caching with some of the others of us. Hopefully though, we all have fun.
Well, TBC didn’t have too much fun the other day looking for that sinister puzzle. But it sounds as if he’ll also go back! 😉
We’ve continued to play the LCG, even though there is absolutely no chance of us ever posting high number months, for the reasons s|s stated. In most cases, the caches are in very remote and beautiful spots, the same kind we like to hunt, anyway. Having just come off the DeLorme madness moments ahead of $4/gallon gas, we’re trying to plan with some mindfulness any trips now. Lonely Caches will be hunted if they fit into the plan.
Here’s my question on replacing caches……we’ve replaced three. Two were done with the owner’s blessing, contacting them ahead of replacement for specifics on container types and all that. One, the owner has never responded to emails, but it wasn’t out of our way and we’d found it previously, so we knew exactly what and where it should be, and it was kind of a cool spot. In that final example, since the owner seems to have left geocaching, never responded to emails offering to adopt it, maybe it should be archived instead of replaced for points? Thoughts?
Any of the WWF series placed by Little Otter are nice en route. Are there any on the islands themselves? Have fun!
Hey Anne, I believe you only need to set up one more to join all of us at Platinum! It seems kinda silly that you aren’t, you’ve got us all beat with your finds, LOL.
I pretty much figured that it wouldn’t fit with the current guidelines, but I also agree with cheeto that really, earth science encompasses more than just geology. Particularly in today’s world, with the interest in ecology and our impact on the environment, such earthcaches could be really interesting.
Oh well. I really don’t want to do too much preparation without feeling like it has a decent shot of approval. Too bad. I thought the whole concept of lichens on gravestones was fascinating myself, but I’ve been told I’m weird.
We also liked Europe Bay, but agree that all of them up there are a lot of fun.
You know, we were really surprised at how minimal the bug hassle was at Volo last night. We had more insects swarming us at a P & G near the Madison Comfort Inn in the bright light of morning! I was pretty adament that we get Illinois with some good ECs, instead of the closest to us, which is basically at a farmer’s gate. There’s one hysterical log for that cache, though, it might well be one of the funniest I’ve ever read!
I tried to submit my platinum request, filled in all those 20 caches, then for some bizarre reason, when I went to put in my own, the screen would only scroll to the first three of 20 and the submit button appeared. I guess for now we can be happy in knowing we achieved it, we’ll try submitting when the computer or site wants to behave!
Hi, Welcome to the addiction!
In our experience, some of the coins and bugs logged are being logged to be passed along, others just to be discovered. Once you get there, there will probably be spaces for the trade ones and another spot for the ones just to be discovered. You don’t have to log anything in; folks can simply get the tracking numbers, then come back to gc.com, log in the number and pick up or discover or whatever.
Have fun! Hope this helps.
All you need to know is…. it was the DeLorme Final. In chest waders!
Proof that only crazy people need apply, LOL. I’m too tired to do the photo stuff, will get to that tomorrow!
Yeah, that’s what we were thinking, too. Cheesehead Dave thinks the cache should be safe, but getting to it will be the issue, I suppose.
We’ll hopefully know more by this time tomorrow. 😀
Thanks, we’ll come prepared! Trekkin’s done that before, and I can just wear a swimsuit with my water shoes. I’ve done that before! Somehow, the way we cache, that almost seems like the way to end our run, LOL. We’re hoping to get some things along the way, and keep going to finish off those counties. Then heading toward McHenry for some earthcaches. We just didn’t want another experience of driving a long distance, only to get “just the essentials” and pass up others to stay dry and safe.
I just looked and it looks nice all day there until around suppertime, then the rain chances were still only around 30%.
Yeah to Madame President for such a classy way to mark a milestone!
Congrats, Bec!
Congratulations on a new milestone. I see you already grabbed that Templar one, too!
I don’t have the numbers, but let’s see.
We’ve cached a lot with….
Timberline Echoes
DOC.
accordiongal
lagrac
drhaasThere are many others we’ve cached with a time or two, but these are the “regulars,” I guess. We enjoy events, because we get to meet and cache with lots of folks and the social aspect of that is great.
Way cool, good friend! Yes, if it’s 7000 now, can 10,000 be far behind?
Congratulations, Ralph!
